Located on the seafront, in the village of Velas, the hotel is 200 m away from shopping venues, 1 km from the harbour and 7 km from São Jorge Airport.

English- and French-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Amenities include a baggage storage service and a safe.     Beautiful views, service & breakfast

    Our room was beautiful — clean, comfortable, and equipped with a small fridge and bathroom essentials for personal care. The staff, from the front desk to housekeeping and restaurant team, were all very attentive and welcoming. Breakfast was a great start to the day with plenty of choices, though I’m not sure if vegan options were available. The pool and grounds are absolutely stunning — perfect for a relaxing holiday. We didn’t get the chance to explore much, but it’s only a short 5-minute walk to town. We could easily see ourselves staying here again. Strongly recommend!

    Loud euro dance music, Worst Night ever at a hotel

    I spent two nights at this hotel. My first night at this hotel was utterly miserable and I got zero sleep. My room was like a Euro dance club with pounding base dance music, as though I was trying to sleep in the middle of a club. I started calling hotel reception at 12 and called continuously till after 3am. The hotel did not consider this its problem since off property and made zero effort to try to account for my inconvenience. The, “not our problem you paid for a room and got no sleep” attitude of the hotel is the basis for this rating. There was zero sense of apology, let’s give a small discount, or a free room service, nothing. The fact that I paid for a room that was extremely loud and could not sleep, this hotel made blatantly clear that I just had to suck it up and accept it. So, buyer beware. I have stayed at hotels where things go perfectly and hotels where on occasion something goes wrong, eg, hvac not working or loud wedding event disturbed guests. The reputable hotels are the ones where when sometimes goes wrong they try to make it up to the guests. The Hotel Sao Jorge Garden is not that type of hotel. Also, because I did not get any sleep, I was not able to do what I planned to do that day in Sao Jorge. So be careful where you stay. I thought staying at the larger hotel in Sao Jorge would be the best choice, however, it was not. This is the worse experience I have ever had in all my years of travel. Every other hotel I have stayed at understood that one of their core duties is to provide an environment where their guest could have a peaceful rest at night. Someone needs to educate the Hotel Sao Jorge Garden on this basic hospitality industry principle.

    I was in a party that had 8 rooms between us. We experienced various problems with the tired and neglected rooms: air con not working, patio doors either jammed open or shut, leaking showers, but the worst was cockroaches in the room, which two of us had. At least I only had one in mine. The other person had a whole troupe in theirs. When we complained to reception they just handed over a can of bug killer. This is a fantastic location, lovely view, great pool and charming staff but the owners need to spend some money and bring it up to the standard it should be.

    Buyer beware! Here now with family and the hotel is not up to par at all. I will start this by saying we stayed here 2 years ago and had zero issues hence why we returned. This trip has been a disaster. Our group has 7 rooms amongst us and 4 of the rooms had numerous issues from bugs in the room (think infestation to air conditioners not working). This hotel has no maintenance folks to fix these issues and when asked they simply reply they can’t get anyone on the weekends-totally unacceptable! We paid money for sea view rooms and most of us are looking at shrubs with zero view. At this moment I could not recommend this hotel which is sad as I had said before 2 years ago we had zero issues but this time around it’s bad! We actually cannot wait to leave and head to the next island…what a waste of money!!!

    We liked this hotel from the moment we arrived. Clean and recently redecorated. The location was excellent with great sea views. our room was facing Pico mountain which was fantastic on the days when the mountain was free of cloud. We had a faulty shower/bath selector which the hotel staff replaced immediately on reporting. A brilliant response. Breakfast was very good with a great choice of foods. The coffee could be better, but that is a minor issue in many hotels as well as this one.All in all, a very pleasant stay indeed. We would return.
