  A historical gem at the foot of the city.

  A historic hotel located on the slopes of the city, close to the Rio Mondego. Both the exterior and interior feature a vintage style, making it charming for lovers of classicism. The finishes in the rooms are also in keeping with the context: the lighting, bathrooms, and furnishings seem to transport you to another era. Obviously, these are details that may not be appreciated by everyone, especially if you prefer more modern or automated environments. The price also includes breakfast in the dedicated lounge on the ground floor. There is also a 24-hour reception at the entrance. The only drawback is the lack of parking, which is compensated for by the presence of free covered parking a few hundred meters away across the river. Otherwise, it is an excellent facility at very reasonable prices.

  This hotel could be a diamond but not yet.

  This is an old hotel built 1917 which has a lot of charm and where a lot of the old decoration has been maintained. The rooms have the high ceilings which were typical of the era. The bathrooms have of course been modernized and even have a bidet which you don't see often nowadays. On the downside, the sound isolation between rooms is very poor. Expect the guests next door to knock on the wall if you speak in a normal voice after bedtime. The cleaning of the rooms leave a lot to be desired. Part of the furniture and carpets are worn. This hotel could be a real gem if more work was put into it; no fault of the staff who is very friendly and helpful.

  Blast from the past!

  The Hotel Astoria offers a truly unique and memorable stay right in the heart of Coimbra. Stepping into the lobby is like taking a charming trip back in time; the hotel has retained its beautiful, classic Belle Époque architecture and antique fixtures, which adds an incredible amount of character.Our room was spacious and clean, and the staff were friendly and efficient throughout our stay. The location is just perfect for our short Trip. The main drawback of our experience, however, was the hotel's age and construction, which made it quite hellhörig (thin-walled). We could clearly hear noise from the neighboring rooms and the hallway, but it doesn’t bother us, since we‘re both tired from our Day trip.

  as soon as you walk in to the astoria it is like walking back in time,perhaps it has seen better days however it is full of character.friendly staff,in a good location for discovering what coimbra has to offer or if your on the caminho.my room was of a good size especially the bathroom and while it was a bit basic it also had fine views of the river mondego making my short stay all the more memorable.

  Location is excellent as it central and also near the river.Easy walk to many eating places just behind the hotel.Interior- its needs Alot of work ,carpet is very worn, the room smelt musty,our double bed is the smallest we have had in all of Europe, TV has only 4 channels ( this is not as important but only 4!,Beware our small room was on a split level which means you may have to take your luggage down 5-6 steps once you get off the lift which we experienced at other hotels.Breakfast is basic and lifts are small
