When arriving at the hotel, we were greeted with a smile and the girl at the reception took genuine care in getting us properly checked-in and made sure we knew how to access the WIFI in the room/hotel.The rooms have an acceptable size, but they're not really that cozy. In fact, they seem rather worn out - broken/dented furniture and frayed towels. There's no iron or ironing board in the room and I'm pretty sure that they're no such service at the hotel. The bed were initially "decorated" with throw pillows which wouldn't do much good when sleeping. However, fortunately there was real pillows in the closet. That didn't change the fact, however, that the bed was quite hard. In other words, the sleeping comfort was limited. The room has an old TV - nothing near a flat screen - where you can watch a couple of Portuguese channels as well as RTL, Raiuno and France24.In terms of food, there's a restaurant at the hotel. However, it only offers breakfast. The actual breakfast buffet is acceptable, but there's nothing fancy about it. The hotel also has a so-called snack bar, but the food it offers it based on frozen products - like pizza and lasagna. You're better of going to one of the smaller restaurants nearby, but there're not a lot to chose from - and the one we found didn't have a menu card or English speaking staff.Although the room has a minibar with an acceptable selection, there's no heather allowing you to make a cup of coffee or tea.Adjacent to the hotel, there's a public gym. It's surely smaller than your average gym "at home" and therefore appears quite crowded. The equipment is a bit worn down, but all in all you can surely get a proper workout done. The opening-hours are quite poor, though. It's closed on Sundays and holidays, only open from 10am to 1pm on Saturdays and from 10:30am to 1:30pm and again from 4pm to 9pm on weekdays. Would I check-in at this hotel again? Probably not... I'd try and search a more up-to-date hotel - even if it means that I need to go outside Alcanena.

PERFECT FOR PORTUGAL
12 May 2014
Along with several friends and partners from several European countries we rented room at Eurosol Alcanena in May. The size of the hotel depending on the size of the city is excellent and offers many opportunities, and those that do not possess are offered by municipality par example swiming pool, that is just near the hotel. Breakfast, laundry and Gym is more than ok, and personal as well. Even it has 3* the hotel offer comfort & excellent facilities.

A Calm weekend
25 Sept 2013
In the center of Alcanena, with good directions, it's excelent for a weekend out of Lisbon (just at 150km far) for a very low price! With a good service, room and breakfast for a 3 stars hotel! This hotel haven't any pool but gives free entraces to the Alcanena's municipal outdoor pool. With many interesting places in the zone as "Mira d'Aire" Caves and Dinosaur park

Basic hotel for overnight stay
28 Jul 2011
Stayed here for one night on our way home from a 2 week holiday in Portugal (100km north of Lisbon airport) and that was about long enough to stay there. This hotel has seen better days. It is modern but has the appearance of a place in recession. It was very quiet and totally lacking in atmosphere and ambience. Indeed the town of Alcanena itself is very "dead" and has the appearance of a sleepy dormitory town for Lisbon. While the hotel was clean the decor was a bit shabby..... loose laminate floor boards, flaky plaster on the walls and tiling in the bathroom that must have been done by an apprentice on his first day on the job. Pillows wee wafer thin too. Breakfast was adequate but didn't have cooked items. Dinner was offered at €12 but we decided to travel a bit out of town in search of somewhere ore lively. While the hotel wasn't bad and served us well for our overnight stay I wouldn't have liked it as a base for a holiday!
