This old fashioned hotel is big but still a nice place to stay. People are always very friendly. The beds are comfortable, and the breakfast always proposed with fresh fruit and a big choice of different breads, ham and cheese, coffee, tea and juices. In summer you can enjoy the swimming pool and play tennis. The view is just incredible.

Rude staff
27 Jun 2019
They have lied on their website about having special diet menus, I am coeliac and got there to be told they don't have anything for me, for breakfast or dinner! It also says that you can have an extra bed for children, so when I arrived and asked for one I was told I would have to pay an extra £89.The staff were constantly laughing amongst themselves about me, pretending they couldn't speak English when they could, I even spoke Spanish to them which all Portuguese people understand asking for water and they deliberately would not. I gave my dress for my uncles party to them to iron, it was returned completely unironed. My socket in the room was unsafe and coming out of the wall. It advertises that all staff speak Spanish English Portuguese and French, some of them cannot speak English. The food at dinner was swimming with grease and I literally starved for a week. Beds are hard as a rock, sheets worn out plus pillows and pillowcases. Very old decor. One receptionist was nice, the other would never smile and even rolled her eyes because I called her from the back office saying excuse me.

Location is everything

Magnificent view despite the bad weather. The location is very near the sanctuary of Senhora do Castelo at the side of the hill. The room could be better but the location is this case is everything. The food in the restaurant is very good.

Comfortable stay
26 Aug 2018
Checked in for 3 nights after leaving another hotel that wasn't honest with our group. Was not fancy but rooms were clean, pool area was nice with a snack bar area. Breakfast was included and was the typical Portuguese style breakfast. Free Wi-Fi and was a short drive to town. They only do double occupancy so our family of 4 had to get two rooms, which I didn't like so much but that's how it was and the rooms weren't that expensive. I would return if staying in this area again.

Band Stay
09 Jan 2017
Stayed here with my band while playing a local rock festival... Great hotel with fantastic views and decent rooms. Located a few minutes up a hill overlooking the town. We had a front room with balcony, very nice with pleasant staff.
