This hotel occupies a former nunnery from the early 19th century outside the walls of Óbidos. Through its tasteful remodelling, the original character has been retained, although with all the features that a modern traveller would require. The town centre can be reached in a few minutes on foot and the airport is located around 75 km away.

The hotel was built in 1830. Guests have a choice of 30 non-smoking rooms. English-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are happy to answer any questions. I CHECKED OUT AFTER ONLY TWO HOURS BECAUSE THE TOILET CONTAINED FECAL RESIDUE AND THE BATHTUB CONTAINED HAIRS

What a wonderful, atmospheric place. Easy to find and the street parking wasn't too tricky, just a short walk up to the gate to the town. It was a great experience starting with the warm welcome right through to the delicious breakfast.Their restaurant was closed that evening, so, I'm afraid I'm unable to review it but their standards for everything else are very high.

Wow. Unique hotel for book lovers.

I've read about this hotel many times. So purposely made a side trip to stay here.It did not disappoint. The books, libraries made this one of the most unique hotels I've stayed in. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Amazing location - a few steps outside the castle wall. Highly recommend the restaurant/dinner and breakfast (home made pastries!) Definitely recommend this for all book lovers or a place just to chill and relax.

The Book and Cook restaurant here, is a superb restaurant in a library in a hotel. Food was fantastic also the staff were friendly, polite and courteous.
