Guardian of one of the most exquisite landscapes in Portugal, overlooking the ocean and the wonderful Guincho beach, this hotel is fantastic. The tourist centre with its restaurants and shops is a 10-minute drive away, while the beach is only a short walk from the hotel.

The hotel has 27 non-smoking rooms, which are located on 2 storeys and are reachable by lift. Multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. A baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and cash machine are available. Wireless internet access (for a fee) allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. There are also a number of shops that make for great strolling and browsing. A garden provides extra space for rest and relaxation in the open air. Additional amenities include a newspaper stand, a TV room, a playroom and a library. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage (for a fee) or in the car park. Every window tells a dream.

Fortaleza do Guincho is a very special place, with incredible views. Depending on which room you may be staying in, every window tells a dream. Far away, there is an invisible line that separates the beautiful sky and the immense blue-shaded sea, as far as you can see, before it gets you lost in your mind, until the breeze comes in to make you feel a sense of belonging and immediately awakens you in safety inside of this fortress from the 17th century. Petra, the general manager, welcomes everyone with such a genuine smile. Having breakfast is just like being on a cruise ship, where you are surrounded by the Atlantic waves sweeping dramatically against the rugged Guincho coastline, there is no better playlist for your morning treat. Look out for Bruno, who is serving freshly brewed coffee with a pleasant "bom dia", what a way to start your day! The room amenities invite you to slow down and indulge your soul for a short break, even the simplest moment becomes a small luxury worth remembering. What truly brings Fortaleza do Guincho to life, however, is its people, from Alexandre’s warm welcome at the reception desk to João and Marta’s attentive care in the restaurant, the entire team has that rare ability to make hospitality feel both effortless and genuinely personal. Nothing is too little or too much for them to make your stay special, and perhaps that is the magic of Fortaleza do Guincho, here, every window frames the endless Atlantic sea, every wave tells a story, and every horizon invites you to dream. A sew view, but not an Open Window!

Room 204 has a beautiful sea view…unfotunately, opening the window also meant enjoing the full aroma of the kitchen ventilation!Quite an unusual concept for a Ralais Chateaux- expecially at this price!Luckyly, there was not availability for a second night.The rest was excellent!

This is a truly magical place, perched up on a cliff, with the waves crashing below. Everything is perfect - the locale, the surrounding area (beaches, sand dune conservation area, nearby town, the room, hotel common areas, restaurant and staff. This was our 3rd visit, and it just keeps getting better. Highly recommend!

excellent on all levelsthe staff was professional, charismatic, always willing to serve , freindly. The room service was optimal. I particularly liked the surprise fruit bowls left in my room. The front desk was very helpful in helping me make reservations and give suggestions. Very personable staff all around. The micheline star meal was memorable.. and chef Gil Fernandes is a creative food genius. I love the way he relays is growing up and family food experiences into his dishes. The staff at resto is wonderful as well.. but they can level up a little when it comes to sharing the chefs passion which truely shines in the dishes. overall my stay was above expectations.

Great views, restaurant and service in a dramatic setting

Wonderful, dramatic property in a dramatic setting right on the coast. Beautiful views. Fantastic service, amazing restaurants and amazing breakfast. There is a michelin star restaurant and a bistro by the same chef and kitchen. We tried the bistro and it was excellent. We rode a bike into Cascais center, that was great. There is an ebike stand right next to the hotel.Having a dinner or breakfast in the beautiful eating area, looking out to the dramatic coast makes you feel very lucky. (Note, the property does not have a pool, someone posted a pic with a pool but its a different property)
