  We had a really enjoyable family stay here with Mum, Dad and our 3 year old son and would definitely recommend it, particularly for families.The location is excellent. You’re right by the marina, which has a lovely atmosphere and plenty of great places to eat and drink. Cascais town centre is also only around a 10 minute walk away and has that brilliant Portuguese and Spanish holiday town feel. Lots of restaurants, busy streets and a really good atmosphere in the evenings. We loved it.We tried both beach clubs on separate days and enjoyed them for different reasons. Emma was excellent for food and service, while the smaller beach club probably has the nicer beach and setting. The sea was absolutely freezing though!The hotel itself works really well for families. It has a relaxed feel, there was no fighting for sunbeds or having to get up ridiculously early to reserve them, and generally it was just an easy place to spend time with a young child.Breakfast was good with plenty of choice, although the service could definitely be sharpened up. Simple things like having enough cups, cutlery and the basics readily available would make a noticeable difference.The only area we found a little disappointing was the hotel bar in the evening. There wasn’t much atmosphere or really anything happening, so we tended to head into town instead. Given how close Cascais is and how much is going on there, it wasn’t a major issue for us.Overall, we had a great holiday and really enjoyed our stay. Fantastic location, very family friendly, lovely marina and beaches nearby, and Cascais itself is a great place to spend an evening. We’d happily return.   This was a disappointing 2 week stay with grown up family. It is a toddlers and young family hotel. It is tired, dirty and overpriced. It needs a complete renovation. Staff were surly and unhelpful. It had 2 operational elevators with the broken ones covered by posters. Sheets were only changed by request after a week. Only once. Towels had holes in them, bathroom from the 70s. Broken toilet. Broken fixtures. A shocker honestly. Don't do it.   Lovely hotel.lovely staff.need a lot more for children to do in the hotel.more nightly entertainment.on the last day we ordered food outside and paid for it.we moved away from the table we were sitting at when food was finished,suddenly a staff member came after us asking if we were going to pay for the food we got.i showed her receipt and bank statement,we were stopped in front if guests which was so embarrassing,i felt like a thief.i was never disgusted and ruined our last day Vila Galé Hotéis , General Manager at Vila Gale Cascais, responded to this review Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us.We are delighted to know that you enjoyed the hotel and found our staff welcoming and attentive.   Nice hotel, let down by service

  Nice hotel, hall ways are very dark, but rooms a comfortble size. Pool is quite small for the number of people.I found the team around the pool lovely and accommodating.   I had wanted to visit Cascais for some time and I chose the Vila Galé hotel to celebrate my special birthday with my family, eight of us in all . I booked rooms with balcony and sea view, requesting the 6th floor for the best views. On arrival, quite late in the evening , we were allocated our rooms by Diogo, who was welcoming, very efficient and dealt with only questions we had in a friendly manner. Our rooms were spacious , clean and had balconies affording a panoramic view and overlooking the swimming pool also . The bathrooms were a good size, well- fitted and kept very clean by the excellent cleaning staff. The buffet breakfast had something for everyone and was restocked regularly. My party of 6 had no problems finding space to eat together , usually on the terrace outside, where we were visited sometimes by ducks and a peacock! We only had the buffet dinner once, preferring to try the excellent variety of restaurants in the town, a 10 minute walk away , but it offered a menu that suited everyone , including my 3 teenage grandchildren.All the staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay immensely and was a great place to celebrate , or help me forget my big birthday. One minor hitch was that the lifts were under repair and the 2 operating in the lobby were not enough at times, necessitating some minutes wait on occasion.All in all this is a great family hotel for all ages . You should try it.
