Awful, bureaucratic mess of a hotel

  27 Nov 2025

One of the most bureaucratic, dated, half-arsed hotels I’ve ever been to.Food very poor. Isolated location. All facilities open only at specific hours, eg no pool access until 10, and using the pool requires filling in a form. Trampolines exist beside a sad little playground, but you’re not allowed to use them outside a specific 30 minute slot. Some pools closed for maintenance without warning or communication. Kids not allowed in jacuzzi. Massage booked at a specific hour not available until 40 minutes later. There are a hundred little things that are unnecessarily not allowed, or require bureaucracy akin to booking a domestic flight. Staff totally curt and unsympathetic. We are considering leaving early Vila Galé Hotéis, Marketing at Vila Gale Sintra, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly sorry to read about your experience and regret that your stay did not meet your expectations. We sincerely apologize for the frustration caused by the operational limitations you encountered, including access to facilities, scheduling procedures, maintenance works, and the service delays you described. These measures are intended to ensure safety, organization and comfort, particularly in family-oriented environments, but we fully acknowledge that, in your case, they resulted in an experience that felt restrictive and disappointing. We are especially concerned to learn about your perception of our team’s attitude, as courtesy, empathy and professionalism are values we take very seriously. Your comments have been shared with the relevant department heads so they can be carefully reviewed and addressed.Regarding maintenance and service delays, we regret the lack of clear communication and the inconvenience caused, and we appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention as they help us identify where improvements are urgently needed. We genuinely regret that we did not provide the experience you were hoping for and thank you for your honest feedback. Should you decide to give us another opportunity in the future, we would very much like to demonstrate the level of service we continuously strive to deliver.Kind regards,Pedro ValleGeneral ManagerVila Galé Collection Sintra

A Beautiful and Modern Stay That Lives Up to the Brand

  16 Nov 2025

  1. LocationExcellent. The hotel is very well located near the coastal area, surrounded by beautiful natural scenery. The environment is peaceful, spacious, and ideal for a relaxing stay.2. CleanlinessOutstanding. Everything was impeccably clean, with no trace of dirt or clutter. The rooms were spotless, well organised, and perfectly maintained. Absolutely nothing to criticise in terms of hygiene.3. StaffThe staff were friendly, attentive, and always available to help. All interactions werepositive, and there was nothing unpleasant to point out regarding the team.4. FacilitiesThe hotel has ample space, good parking, and electric vehicle chargers — a great advantage for us as a family. Overall, the facilities were excellent.5. BreakfastVery good, consistent with what we expect from Vila Galé hotels in Portugal. Although the variety is not huge, everything offered was of excellent quality. The breakfast area was extremely clean, well organised, and pleasant.6. Spa & Pool AreaThe spa is very pleasant, with a good jacuzzi, steam bath, and sauna. However, the highlight in terms of views is the pool area — not the spa or sauna. The pool is large and spacious, providing a beautiful view over the surrounding nature. There are plenty of sun loungers, allowing guests to relax and enjoy both the pool itself and the landscape. We did not try the massages, but the spa facilities were spotless and well maintained.Overall ImpressionI definitely recommend this hotel. It is a great choice for families and provides high-quality facilities throughout.8. PriceThe only drawback is the price. Although it is a good hotel, I feel that the cost is a bit too high for the type and category of the hotel. The value for money is slightly unbalanced. As a family of four, we also had to book two separate rooms, which made the total cost even higher. It would be a great improvement if the hotel offered family rooms or connecting rooms.

  Beautiful setting

  30 Sept 2025

What a lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. Amazing sunsets. Staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent amenities including gym, spa and indoor pool. Plentiful sunbeds around the outdoor pools. Excellent buffet breakfast - really spoilt for choice! Only downside was that we couldn't walk into Sintra as there are no pavements - instead, a taxi costing around 11 Euros each way. Vila Galé Hotéis, Marketing at Vila Gale Sintra, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you very much for sharing your kind feedback. We’re delighted to know that you enjoyed your stay with us and appreciated our beautiful setting, the sunsets, and our facilities such as the spa, gym, and pools. It’s also wonderful to hear that you found our breakfast buffet so enjoyable and that our team made a positive impression with their friendliness and helpfulness. We understand your comment regarding the location — indeed, the hotel is nestled in a peaceful natural environment, which sometimes requires a short taxi ride to the centre of Sintra. We truly hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back soon for another relaxing stay surrounded by nature.Warm regards,Pedro ValleGeneral ManagerVila Galé Sintra
