  For us Americans, staying in a quintessential medieval flat on a cobblestone street was the European experience we were looking for. Although maybe this was more medieval than we bargained for!Pros:Budget-friendly and great location in the heart of Alfama. We were able to walk everywhere from here, plenty of landmarks, shops and dining nearby. We had an issue with the heater and lack of toiletries which Manuel responded to promptly. For a small fee, you can arrange to have a driver pick you up and return you to the airport. Cons:However small the room looks in pictures, it’s even tinier than I imagined. We stayed in the Orange room, which while clean, felt dampy. We were lucky in that it didn’t smell of mildew as that of our friends’ did and they ended up moving to another hotel. Since we just needed a place to sleep and shower we were fine with the apartment, although it felt claustrophobic after several days. If you just needed a place to sleep for a couple of days, this would be fine, but I think longer stays might be more comfortable in a larger room with better ventilation.

  My experience with alfama yellow house was amazing. The apartement is very cozy and well decorated. There is every equipement necessary for the sejour. And of course i can't finish this review without thanking manuel who is a really kind person, i enjoyed talking to him, and he is available for all your needs.

  Manuel was an amazing host and the apartment was very well located, cleaned and really comfortable. All the restaurants / bars located around the apartment were really friendly and typical. If we return to Lisbon, we will definitely book this apartment again!

  The worst AirBnb experience in my whole history

  We ordered a place for 5 people. The flat was at the second floor with very steep stair so older members had problem. The host (Old guy) was drunk during the check-in and did not help at all. It is ridiculous that such thing happens. This drunk guy came to the apartment when we were out and he did not even notified us that he came in. The bathroom was dirty without and shower soap or shampoo and the towels stank. The hand soap disposer was not working so you had to pour it like from the bottle. There was a hairdryer that did not fit the electric socket.In the kitchen the fridge was frozen like nobody cared about it. There was not enough cups and plates for 5 people. Not mentioning that there were only two beds and one old sofa that you couldn’t open as the room was too small. But the funniest thing was that they did not leave the linen for the 5th person so we struggled to sleep on two beds only. Luckily it was just two nights. I completely do not recommend this place. If they do not know how to host guest they should not do this. I am so enough of such rude and arrogant people. Did someone mentioned there is no air con. Guess what it is on the roof so extra hot in the summer. Stay away from this offer. Don’t waste money on that.

  Wonderful stay at Alfama Yellow House, accommodation in the heart and spirit of the culture of Lisbon and Portugal.The location is in the most original district of Lisbon and just a few steps from the tram line that runs the famous Tram 28, with several accommodation options, depending on the needs and number of people, with a very good value for money. The host Manuel is very receptive and with helpful tips for staying. If we return to Lisbon, we will definitely stay at Alfama Yellow House again!
