    Fabulous stay!

    rating24 Jan 2026

Amazing stay! We loved Lisbon and loved this hotel!Catryna was one of the most friendliest and genuine person, she gave amazing service, and always had time to answer questions or give recommendations. The hotels location is spot on, a really short walk to the start of the 28 tram stop, easy to walk to the major attractions. Short walk to Rossi train station where can get trains to Sintra from. Has plenty of metro stations nearby and is EUR1.90 if want to travel to airport or EUR7.90 for day pass including metro, trams and buses.Rooms are lovely and kept nice and clean!Breakfast is 10/10!! Great variety, all cooked fresh and constantly topped up!

    Beautiful historic hotel

    rating30 Dec 2025

My husband and I stayed here for four nights in October 2025. We really enjoyed our stay! We arrived much too early to check in, but they allowed us to leave our bags while we went out to sightsee. Upon our return, we found our bags had already been moved into our room! That was great because our room was on the second floor. (Note there is no elevator here.)Our room was huge and beautiful with a large modern bathroom. Bed was comfy too. The hotel is right in the heart of the Chiado district, so it's walkable to many sights/restaurants and has easy access to public transportation.Breakfasts here were really great and the coffee was good too!The receptionist was lovely and very helpful. Just a FYI, access to your room is with a key that you leave with reception when you go out. The hotel is not manned late at night (after 11:00?) so if you will be returning late after a night out, call them earlier to let them know so you'll know how to get your key.We were in a room on the same floor as the breakfast room but probably the room furthest from the breakfast area, so there was no noise as others have noted in their reviews.Parking in front of the hotel is basically impossible, except to unload or load luggage. If you have a car, there is a parking structure a block away and we were able to find parking there easily.José Avillez's three restaurants at Bairro do Avillez are a 2-minute walk up the street and they are all great. The hotel also is a very short walk to the Continente supermarket, A Brasileira do Chiado, and many more shops and dining options. We would absolutely stay here again

Timeless Elegance with a Personal Touch!

    rating05 Sept 2025

The Bordalo Palace has all the luxury of a 4-star hotel in that the rooms are spacious with high ceilings, balconies, and exquisite furnishings, and AC that works! (not a given in Europe). In other ways, it has all the warmth of a B&B. There aren’t a large number of guest suites and the breakfast area is cozy with folksy décor and place settings that look like they came out of your aunt’s china cabinet. But what really sets this place apart is the personalized service, which is hard to find in our QR-code dominated world. The front desk staff (Caterina and Isra) act as a concierge. They don’t just hand you a key and tell you how to get to your room; they provide assistance with your luggage (which you may very well need because there’s no elevator (another rarity in Europe), they give you a map, point out local attractions, give you advice on where to eat and shop, even instructions on how to use Lisbon’s celebrated public transportation system. And if a problem arises, they put on their on their thinking caps and troubleshoot! On my first day, I accidentally left my key at the hotel and Caterina promptly called me and came up with a brilliant solution! The ladies who staffed the breakfast area constantly re-stocked the delectable items on the buffet and asked us if there was anything we needed (the coffee was made to order, by the way, no push-button machine ubiquitous throughout Europe). The icing on the cake (literally) was that I found 2 pasteles de nata garnished with fresh raspberries upon my arrival and handwritten notes at various points during my stay, which I greatly appreciated as I was on my own and it made me feel safer to know the staff was looking out for me. I only wish I could pack up Dear Lisbon – Bordalo Palace Chiado and the entire staff and take them with me wherever I travel!

    Bad

    rating07 May 2025

I had a reservation for the night of April 28. My flight was cancelled due to a nationwide blackout—clearly beyond my control. The hotel showed zero flexibility, refused any refund or goodwill gesture, and hid behind rigid policies. Cold, unhelpful, and completely lacking in basic decency. Avoid if you expect even the slightest trace of human understanding.

    Lovely small quirky boutique hotel.

    rating16 Apr 2025

Fabulous small boutique hotel. Friendly staff and great location. Rooms are large with walk in showers and large comfy beds. Beautiful white linen and towels clean every day. The room was clean and basic. No drawers if you like drawers. We have packing cubes so wasn’t a problem. Large fitted wardrobe but you need extra hangers. Fresh water and clean glasses were supplied daily. Also tea and coffee making facilities on your room. Small seating area with two arm chairs in the room. The room was at the front overlooking the small square but the windows were sound proofed and any noise went after 12pm. Was also a little noisy in the mornings at 07.30 when the breakfast room was being prepared. This didn’t bother us but if you like sleeping in you may struggle. The breakfast was served in a small quaint room at the back with set tables and a help yourself buffet. Always fresh pastries, fruits, yoghurt. Cereals, Meats and salad. Small variations each day . Fresh juices, water, tea and coffee. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is great for sight seeing as near to everything. Ubers also very cheap if going further. We got one to Sintra for 20 euro. Also near the train to visit Cascais. Lots of local eateries nearby. Staff very helpful with local knowledge. We would definitely stay here again as in a great spot and small hotel.with lovely staff. Bit noisy at times but it’s an older renovated building.if you like quirky boutique you’ll love it here.
