A friendly guesthouse in a French town

    rating22 Apr 2026

I loved this hotel it felt like we were staying in a Manson the room was massive with a shower chair in the shower for us. We got hot water bottles in our room. There was a continental breakfast served every day and the smoked salmon bowls were so small but very delicious. They offered a wide selection of stuff.Staff were very friendly they even met us from the drive then showed us to our rooms.

    What a gem

    rating27 Mar 2026

We stayed for two nights and almost as soon as we entered our room we felt we hade made a mistake, two nights was not going to be enough time here. A lovely room with a four piece bathroom was the icing on the cake in this tasteful yet funky hotel.Check in was friendly, welcoming and efficient which was true for all the staff, with the bonus of a glass of fizz and despite arriving early we found our room was ready. We only ate breakfast in the hotel as the town of Franschhoek has a raft of individual eateries we wanted to try. That said the breakfast was a treat with a selection of cold options, fruits and yoghurt, cheese and meats and cereals followed by various cooked options done to order. Oh I nearly forgot, the afternoon tea was a nice touch also with what was clearly a home made cake.We would love to return some day and would definitely book more than two days. Great stay but dont use their drivers take use Uber

    rating26 Mar 2026

I stayed here as part of my birthday trip around South Africa. We had the Top Floor room which comes with its own balcony. The room was lovely. I am usually a more modern decor person but it was so clean and homely that I could have stayed longer. We brought the English rain with us so didn’t use the pool. The manager Kim and Cecilia are what make this place so exceptional. Anything you need they will arrange. I have stayed in some luxury hotels with butler service. But the local knowledge and yes we can attitude all with a genuine smile and a desire to make your stay a great one are miles above anything we have experienced. My only down would be that we found it weird the tea and coffee was outside of our room (guess making good use of passage space), and also the expensive driver they offer. The offer to drive us and another couple to visit a local museum was taken (10 mins) We caught an uber back. Upon check out was greeted with a large r300 bill for the privilege. The Uber took us from camps Bay to Simon’s Town (an hours drive) for less! Would have been nice to be forewarned about charges. So advice is stay here but don’t use their drivers take an uber! Kim Barends, General Manager at La Fontaine Boutique Hotel by the Oyster Collection, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for choosing La Fontaine for your birthday trip and for sharing such kind words about your stay. We’re delighted you enjoyed the warmth of our team and the comfort of your room. It was a pleasure arranging special touches to make your visit memorable.Regarding the shuttle, we do offer this service for destinations outside of town ( like the motor museum), and the charge simply reflects the dedicated transport provided. We’re sorry if this wasn’t clear at the time, and we’ll make sure to communicate it more transparently going forward. We truly appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you back for another special stay in Franschhoek.Warm regards,Kim and the La Fontaine Team

    Superb hotel

    rating26 Mar 2026

Audley travel selected this hotel for us while on our South African adventure to explore Franschhoek, and we were very pleasantly surprised. We were immediately made to feel very welcome by Michaela, and our bags were taken to our garden suite. I admit the pools are not the most welcoming (or warm) the hotel itself is superb. Amazing breakfasts are served inside outside on the veranda, and the hotel is a 2 minute walk to the Main Street of Franschhoek where there are superb bars and restaurants. Kim Barends, General Manager at La Fontaine Boutique Hotel by the Oyster Collection, responded to this review Dear ChrisThank you for sharing your experience of La Fontaine. We’re delighted that your stay in Franschhoek was so enjoyable and that our team made you feel welcome from the moment you arrived. We truly value your kind words and hope to welcome you back again soon.Warm regards,Kim and the La Fontaine Team
