Location

The hotel is situated about 20-minte drive away from Lisbon city centre. Local restaurants, cafés and the Alegro Alfragide shopping centre are within 5 minutes’ walking distance of the hotel. Belém Tower, Jerónimos Monastery, Padrão dos Descobrimentos and Lisbon International Airport are all under a 15-minute drive away.

Facility

Junior suites, suites, apartments, studios, 128 single rooms and 128 double rooms are located on 5 storeys and can be reached by 2 lifts. Guests are warmly welcomed by English-speaking staff at the 24-hour reception desk in the lobby. Check-in/check-out service is available round the clock. Amenities include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe, cash machine and drinks machine. Wireless internet access (for a fee) allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. There are a number of shops, including a souvenir shop. Additional facilities include a TV room. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage (for a fee) or in the car park (for a fee). Further services and facilities include a babysitting service, a childcare service, medical assistance, a transfer service, room service, a laundry service, a coin-operated laundry and a hotel shuttle bus. The business centre is on hand for guests' business requirements and provides a fax machine. Lectures, presentations and meetings can be held in one of the 2 conference rooms.

Rooms

Air conditioning and individually adjustable heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. All rooms are carpeted and have a double bed or a sofa bed. Extra beds can be requested. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. Guests will also find a tea/coffee station included among the standard features. An ironing set is provided for guests' convenience. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio and WiFi are provided as well. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower and a bathtub, as well as a hairdryer. For extra comfort in the bathrooms, guests are offered cosmetic products. Wheelchair-friendly rooms with wheelchair-accessible bathrooms are also available. The hotel has non-smoking rooms.

    Poor cleaning and maintenance

    I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Lisbon - Alfragide, and unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by a pervasive and unpleasant odor. The room had a strong, lingering scent of stale bacteria embedded in the carpet. It is incredibly disappointing to see a global brand like IHG struggle with basic environmental controls. After looking into guest feedback, it’s clear that travelers have been reporting "terrible" and musty smells at this property for nearly nine years. I find it baffling that management has failed to get their cleaning, maintenance, and refurbishment cycles in order after nearly a decade of documented complaints. A biological odor of this nature indicates a failure in deep-cleaning protocols or a refusal to replace aging, moisture-trapping materials. While the staff remain professional and the location is convenient, the hygiene standards are simply not up to par for a professional stay.

    Great stay ruined by racist staff member

    My wife and I had to find a hotel to stay in Lisbon after the one we booked became unlivable during our stay. We chose this property as a last resort, and when we got there late that night, the staff was very welcoming and seemed happy to have us. The rooms were very comfortable and clean, and because it's a little further away from downtown Lisbon, it was very quiet and peaceful. Though most of the staff was kind and helpful, an incident that occurred during our checkout left a very bad lasting impression with us.On the morning of our checkout, I went down to the lobby around 6:15am with all of our luggage. I was not sure if breakfast was open yet and went towards the cafeteria to take a look. A staff member named Fabio came out of his office and asked me very sternly and bluntly "Can I help you?" to which I asked him what time does breakfast open. He looked at me coldly and simply replied "7." He continued to stare at me as if I was not a guest but someone who did not belong at the hotel (keep in mind that I had my luggage with me). It made me feel really uncomfortable and I decided to go back upstairs to my room where my wife was finishing getting ready. When we came back downstairs a few minutes later to check out, he was very unkind, cold, and did not ask me how my stay was or thank me for choosing their hotel. Once the checkout process was over he immediately went back into his office. Considering how warm and professional the rest of the staff was, and that I am an Asian man, I'm sure Fabio acted the way he did because of my race.     Convenient location to public transportation (right outside the door)!Rooms very clean, very comfortable, and quite.The breakfast was AWESOME! A different variety each morning & plenty to choose from. A great value and friendly staff!

    The Holiday Inn Express was an excellent place to stay while exploring Lisbon and the nearby coastal towns and coastline. Rooms are great and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. The location is great for heading downtown Lisbon or getting out to the coastal regions. The indoor parking is simple and safe. Overall, our week-long stay was very nice. Certainly a go-to hotel!!

    A nightmare!Unusual experience in an IHG hotel. Checked in late night. The young boy at the reception was pretty very serious, looked at us with suspicion and rejected our request for a single bed rather than twin beds in the room. He didn’t welcome me as Diamond Elite member despite me reminding him on that.We stayed there for 5 nights for attending and lecturing at the ISPAD international convention on diabetes in the young people.On day two when we were getting ready in the morning for the conference, got a telephone call from the reception to urgently go down. We both thought its fire in the hotel. Rushed down and to our shock and surprise the receptionist lady informed the police officer, who was waiting to meet me. He politely wanted me to go to the Lisbon police station immediately, since according to him “I am traveling on a lost passport!!”We both tried to explain to him, when two more police officers joined him. In the meantime we realised that the staff in the reception had entered the details in the hotel system from my expired passport and not from my new passport. We showed to the police officers, my new passport, old one with some valid visas and evidence of the passport stolen at Milan.One officer was convinced and told others I need not go to the police station.Soon after that we made the lady at the hotel reception reenter credentials from my new passport.I always carry my old and new passports together. However this grave mistake had happened in the first place, due to an oversight by a staff in Holiday Inn, Lisbon.I could meet only one lady by name Felix at reception who at least smiled and was courteous to us during check out.The hotel offers free breakfast with minimal dishes.No restaurant during day or night.No gym. No free water. No good restaurants nearby.If it were not for an IHG brand, the hotel is worth the cost!
