    We have just returned from a week's stay at the PortoBay Liberdade, Lisbon. Good points : service throughout our stay second to none, a la carte and seasonal menus in restaurant were excellent, as were all the fish dishes and desserts. Our waiter was knowledgeable and very helpful.However our junior suite was not satisfactory. The beds were not made up as twins, there were 3 doors to the bathroom - 2 of them sliding wooden ones which were bowed and therefore rickety and rattling and the bathroom toiletries were in fiddly little bottles. Wardrobe hanging space was too short. However the hotel found us a much nicer superior room - with a large private sun terrace to boot ! Still a sliding door to bathroom, which had to be left open at night because of the noise it made - not very civilised. The sun terrace was a real boon, after a hard day's sightseeing. Room very quiet too. Suggest hotel changes all it's sliding doors for proper ones. They are not up to the standard of a 5 star hotel.     Fabulous PortoBay Central Hotel.

    We have stayed here before for a city break and the PortoBay brand remains at the top of its game.Liberdade us a top hotel in Lisbon and we'll worth a visit. Rooms are spacious, well laid out. We enjoyed a pre dinner drink in the bar most evenings. We had two fabulous meals in the Bistro restaurant, very reasonably priced, compliments to the Chefs. Breakfast offered everything you need to stock up for the day, lots of fresh fruits, pastry selection was excellent, omelette and poached eggs to order, as well as lots of hot options. Staff are very attentive and have the Portobay 'charm'.Highly recommend.Tip for travellers - Lisbon airport was horrendous for arrivals/departures, New entry system absolute chaos, we queued for over 1.5hrs just to get through departures, hardly any staff to assist and they were quite bullish in their manner. People were missing their flights. So allow lots of extra time, two hours is not enough to navigate through departures.     Outstanding hotel just off Liberdade. Perfect location and being off the main road make it quieter. Bistro 4 is excellent for both breakfast and dinner and the staff make it.
