    The Valverde was exactly as I had hoped it would be…a calming refuge in the middle of the city. From the decor and artwork to the tropical escape in the restaurant, everything was perfect.     This is a lovely hotel. Beautifully decorated with a courtyard restaurant that was a little oasis in the middle of the city. Breakfast and dinner were both good, but it was the staff that really made our visit/dinner special. Elsa was our sommelier and she was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the wines we wanted to stay and try everything. The hotel is also close to the jncquoi restaurants which are also worth a visit.     A wonderful hotel choice in Lisbon, located off the luxurious tree-lined Avenida da Liberdad, well away from the crowds of tourists in the historical quarter yet a pleasant stroll to the main sights.Our Junior Suite was perfectly designed for a city stay, comprising a very elegant and comfortable bedroom with a large sofa and desk, a superb walk-in wardrobe with ample hanging space, drawers and shelving and an adjacent bathroom. Everything has been planned with consideration for practical comfort and convenience - so very rare in hotels and even more admirable in a historical building!Staff are warm and professional and delicious breakfasts were a pleasure in the beautiful, cosy breakfast room or adjacent garden space - which function as the hotel’s bar in the evenings.
