  Great location and beautiful rooms, with just a few minor hiccups

  ✅Beautiful Rooms & Comfy Beds: Our room was gorgeous, featuring high ceilings, stunning windows, and super comfy beds. We were lucky enough to have a corner room at the end of the corridor, which meant we couldn't hear the lift or any of the hustle and bustle of people going in and out. The in-room coffee machine also made delicious coffee!✅Brilliant Location: It’s in a lively, vibrant neighbourhood with bus and tram stops right outside the building. There is also a gorgeous viewing area opposite the hotel, which was the perfect spot for chilling out in the evening with a drink.✅Clever Layout: Even though there is a hostel attached to the brand, they are in completely separate buildings, so the hotel portion feels entirely distinct and private.✅Excellent Staff & Service: The staff were polite and incredibly helpful. The maid service was great, keeping us stocked with fresh towels and making the bed daily. Check-in and check-out were very easy with generous timings, and the luggage storage was super convenient.👎Air Conditioning: Unfortunately, the air conditioning didn't work throughout our 4-night stay (we are currently in contact with the hotel regarding compensation). However, the staff were quick to provide us with a fan. Combined with the breeze from our open corner windows, we managed to stay comfortable.👎Rooftop Access & Info: The staff didn't offer much information about the hotel restaurant or the rooftop bar at check-in; we actually had to use Instagram to find out what was going on. It is worth noting that public access to the rooftop bar is through the hotel side, which made us slightly unsure of how secure that area is for guests.👎Rooftop Availability & Noise: During our 4 nights, the rooftop was only open to the public for one evening due to private events. The music was quite loud on the second floor. However, to the hotel's credit, it stopped bang on midnight. They also thoughtfully provided earplugs, and between those and the fan, the noise didn't bother us too much.= Overall, it’s a wonderful hotel with a lovely team, just slightly let down by the tech issues and communication regarding their amenities. We’d still highly recommend it for the location and room quality alone!

  Wouldn't stay here again.

  The hotel is nice, the room was charming. The wifi did not work well, and the hotel was very loud late into the night. All of which was doable, but I was not happy with some of the incompetence I dealt with. One of our bags was lost on the way to Lisbon. I alerted the staff every time we come in or left, and then the night that the airline called and said they'd be delivering the bag, we again alerted the staff. Even with all of that, when the bag was delivered, the front desk refused it (bag was in my daughter's name, my name was on the room. The staff knew all this) and it went back to the airport. We had to pay for an uber to the airport and back the next day to retrieve the bag ourselves, and it took over 3 hours of the day. The management declined even a comment, let alone try to make it right. Very disappointed.

  Quirky hotel

  I have never stayed in such a unique hotel it was very different but in a good way! the staff were all wonderful especially they lovely young man on reception(sorry I didn’t get your name) and the lady whom made our coffees for our breakfast. The bedding was incredible! The windows block out any street noise and the shutters totally block out any early morning sunshine.

  A historic property with period charm

  Well situated and in a fabulous location with a panoramic view of the city, our double room in the Independente Principe Real was much like the city itself full of historic charm, with marble floors and tall shuttered windows. Clean and well maintained, with daily housekeeping. Lovely by day and quiet by night, a good choice for a short break in the centre of Lisbon.

  Independente Príncipe Real is a well-located hotel in one of Lisbon’s most colourful and lively neighbourhoods. It offers clean but small rooms and a unique, bohemian atmosphere. While not very spacious or luxurious, it’s good value and ideal for travellers who prioritise location.The staff at Independente Príncipe Real are friendly, welcoming, and helpful, making guests feel comfortable and well taken care of during their stay.Overall: worth staying
