  A warning to future guests of Lisb’ON HostelMy partner and I had an extremely disappointing experience with this place. We had reserved and paid in full for two nights. Due to a flight delay that was completely outside of our control, we arrived the following day, exhausted after a night spent in the airport.When we got to the hostel, the receptionist informed us that our reservation had been cancelled due to a no-show. Despite my partner explaining the situation and asking multiple times if a room was still available, the staff member was cold, dismissive, and offered no help or alternatives.Afterward, my partner reached out to the manager, Cátia Ribeiro, who claimed they had offered us a free room. That is simply not true. No such offer was made, despite repeated requests at the front desk.Cátia also claimed that the hostel could not issue a refund because the money was held by Booking.com. However, Booking later confirmed that the hostel still holds the payment and is responsible for the charge.What makes this worse is that every attempt my partner made to leave a public comment about this experience on Instagram was deleted. Instead of addressing the issue, the hostel chose to silence feedback.We were charged in full, received no service, and were met with dishonesty and avoidance. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

  Dirty and smelly

  I honestly don’t understand the good reviews. The place was filthy. The bathrooms were never properly cleaned, the showers smelled like mold, and there was a constant bad smell in the hallways, like something rotting or clogged.Our room felt dusty and humid, and the sheets didn’t seem fresh at all. Common areas were sticky, messy, and clearly not cleaned regularly.

  We Paid, They Cancelled, Then Changed the Rules

  We’re students. We saved up and paid for two nights at Lisb’on Hostel. Our flight got delayed overnight. We had no internet to warn them, and they never tried to contact us.We showed up the next day, exhausted, hoping to use the second night we paid for. The receptionist just said our booking was cancelled. No apology. No help. She didn’t even check for a room until we insisted. When we asked for the policy for cancellation, she couldn’t show it.Later I checked online and saw the policy had been changed days after we arrived. I have screenshots of both versions.Now they’re asking me to delete my posts. But this wasn’t just bad service. It was careless and inhumane. And for us, it was a lot of money.

  Worst Hostel in Lisbon

  Out of 4 showers 3 were out of order. The staff is unfriendly and rude. One of the worst experiences in a hostel. We made an official complaint and they replied with lies. Honestly, avoid this at all costs. There are many better options in Lisbon.

  Great Location - Breakfast OK

  My fiancé and I (26 & 27 years old) stayed here July 3-7.We stayed in a private room next to the bathrooms that are shared between the 3 private rooms on the first floor. The bathrooms had a few toilet stalls, 2 sinks, 1 shower, and a handicapped larger shower that had its own private sink. The room itself had functioning AC and was relatively quiet although the floor board creaked when walking around. The Wi-Fi worked throughout the entire hostel.The hostel is located in a very central area within walking distance from seeing the sights as well as restaurants and train stations. There is 24 hour reception, and despite what some reviews say, the staff we dealt with were nice.The breakfast buffet was alright - stocked with milk and cereal, buns, cheese, cold cuts, and coffee. It was relatively easy to meet others in the hostel during breakfast time as the tables are large, so you are able to sit with others. The view from the breakfast room was over a few orange roofed buildings and the ocean - quite beautiful.I would stay again for the price, but depending on how much the breakfast option costs, it might be worth it to opt out and find a nearby restaurant that is cheap and good.
