    Special hotel in amazing location

    rating11 Mar 2026

We stayed 2 at Belvedere hotel on two different occasions. The location is quite special and unique. From our limited knowledge of Lisbon geography this has to be the top location in Lisbon. The hotel itself is a merge of a couple of older buildings that have been joined and remodeled to make hotel rooms. (more on that later)Staff were amazing --- super friendly and attentive. Our room, although small, was well equipped and had a partial view of the water front.Bed comfort was very good and the heating/cooling system worked well. There was a safe and a kettle. The breakfast area on the top of the hotel was really special, with an almost 360 degree view of Lisbon. The food was on another level, with many products cooked from their farm. One particular server was very helpful. The only thing that let down our experience was noise.Since the hotel was created from an older building that joins with another, some hall floors are sloped like ramps. As you walk on them, they make a pronounced thumping sound as if the ramp was made of cheap plywood construction. On our second stay, room 44 had one of these sloped hallway floors beside our room and you could hear everyone thumping by our room. The doors to the rooms do not have a "soft close" feature, that prevents people from slamming the hotel doors. While I was reading in bed, when the room door was closed in the room next to us, the banging of the door moved the wall so much that my head bounced. The room to room sound-proofing was not great, as we had noisy neighbors at 4am in the room next door and we could easily hear them. There are "Quiet" signs all over this hotel, so I suppose these are known issues. At least the hotel could install soft close devices on doors and make the sloped hallways less noisy.Note: on our first stay we were in room 33 and it somewhat quieter. SHIADU Hotels, Guest Services / Front Office at Monte Belvedere by Shiadu, responded to this review Dear deathracer,Thank you for returning to Monte Belvedere Hotel by Shiadu and for sharing such a detailed account of your visits. We are delighted to know that our location, the rooftop setting, and breakfast contributed to memorable moments, and that you felt well cared for by our team.We truly appreciate you highlighting the aspects that did not align with a restful stay. Such an unbelievable experience!

    rating03 Aug 2025

Monte Belvedere Hotel by Shiadu in Lisbon, Portugal was such a lovely stay for my son and I. We have been planning this trip for a few years. A friend of mine stayed here and loved the boutique hotel. The boutique hotel is set in a historical area of Portugal so not every form of transportation is granted access arriving at the hotel. This I wasn't aware of, but made me more happy we were going to be staying here. I inquired about scheduling transportation to the hotel (paid at check-in) and back to the airport (paid before checking out). We were provided with 2 affordable options. One can take other forms of transport, but it won't leave you at the hotel's entrance. We arrived early so we were able to check our bags and Ms. Martins gave us a map of Portugal and recommended where to eat while we waited for our room to be ready. We walked around, shopped, and ate before returning. Our room was ready and we were escorted to our room. Our room was so quaint and a message was left for my son for his upcoming birthday. The room comes with a tv, safe and mini bar as well as an area to make coffee and tea. There was plenty of space for our clothes and belongings. The bathroom had plenty of towels and the toiletries were earthy and lovely. We had a view of the front of the street which was great. The bed had to be the best we ever slept on. The whole vibe was nothing but cozy. Bring an international adapter/plug.Wherever you were in the hotel, the views were spectacular. My son loved that he could see the statue of "Christ the King" which he referred to as "Jesus of God." We went to the rooftop where there is a Happy Hour each night. Outside on the roof are tables and chairs and lounge chairs as well. At night it was just so amazing. This is the same area where we have breakfast. Don't miss out on breakfast!!!!! They make their own jams, which I purchased. I highly recommend you try everything and buy those jams.I am not exaggerating when I say the entire staff was top-notch! Everyone was so helpful and assisted me with all my questions. I was assisted with scheduling our boat ride on the River Tegus (do it!) and I was able to purchase our Metro passes at the hotel. I really don't want to leave anything out. And I hope I haven't. Truly the best customer service we've had. Such a memorable vacation. And such a beautiful country that left us with memories that we will cherish forever. Now go book your trip to this hotel! Noisy and uncomfortable stay

    rating28 Mar 2025

I rarely write reviews, but I feel compelled to warn future guests after a very disappointing experience at Monte Belvedere. The hotel is extremely noisy. If you're assigned Room 01, do not accept it. This room is located off a corridor frequently used by both hotel staff and guests to access the street, causing constant noise disturbances at all hours. The laundry collection service runs between 2:00 and 3:00 AM, and early morning staff conversations made it impossible to sleep. On one occasion, we had to contact reception four times due to excessive noise from guests in the room above us who checked in at midnight.Beyond the noise, the room itself had several issues. The heating and air conditioning systems were difficult to use and didn’t work properly, leaving the room cold, especially as it was located in the basement. The walls are thin, and the hotel overall is noisy, making it hard to get any peace and quiet. While the staff did offer to move us on the third night, by then, it was too late to make any real difference.Given the price, this stay was far from what we expected. The constant disturbances, poor room maintenance, and general noise make Room 01 unsuitable for guests. We won’t be returning, and I would caution others to consider alternative accommodations, even if offered rooms other than Room 01. SHIADU Hotels, Guest Services / Front Office at Monte Belvedere by Shiadu, responded to this review Dear Sophie P,We're truly sorry to hear about your disappointing experience at Monte Belvedere Hotel by Shiadu. It's unfortunate to learn that noise disturbances and other issues impacted your stay. We truly value your feedback and we will address this matter with the utmost urgency. We always strive to provide a comfortable and enjoyable experience for our guests, and we deeply regret that we were not able to meet your expectations in this instance. We understand your decision and respect it, but we hope that you will reconsider and give us another chance to serve you better in the future.Warm regards,Shiadu team

    Fantastic authentic experience

    rating27 Mar 2025

Monte Belvedere was an amazing boutique hotel. It’s in a charming historic building nestled into the side of the hill. It’s located in a restricted traffic area so it was quiet and off the beaten path. The hotel also has an environmental commitment and serves food grown at their farm nearby and composts and recycles. We had amazing views from our rooms, but even if you don’t upgrade you can visit the 7th floor terrace for a drink and experience one of the best views in Lisbon. It’s worth it to pay for the daily breakfast so you can start your day relaxing with a full breakfast, a coffee or tea and take in that amazing view. The staff were incredibly helpful and reached out before our arrival to offer their car service and to answer any questions we had about our accommodations. They also made great recommendations for places to eat, shopping and nightlife spots. Two small improvements they could make are washcloths as part of their linen service and conditioner in the shower. Note the location is great but may prove challenging for people with mobility impairment due to steep hills and stairs. SHIADU Hotels, Guest Services / Front Office at Monte Belvedere by Shiadu, responded to this review Dear Paula M,Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback about your stay at Monte Belvedere. We're delighted to know that you appreciated our efforts towards environmental sustainability and enjoyed the food grown at our farm. We're thrilled to hear that our location provided you with tranquillity and easy access to the city's attractions. It's wonderful to know that you enjoyed the breathtaking views from our terrace and found our staff helpful.Your suggestions regarding the linen service and conditioner in the shower are duly noted. We always appreciate input that helps us enhance our guests' experience. Thank you again for your review.Warm regards,Shiadu team
