Very Comfortable Stay in a True Historic Building

    rating31 Jan 2026

We spent two nights there this week as my wife had an immigration appointment nearby (and 300km from where we live). The hotel is lovely and the room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and informative about local attractions and restaurants and were always on hand to provide assistance when needed. Given that the hotel was basically gutted in the renovation it was a privilege to stay in such a wonderful, historic and beautifully restored building. Breakfast was included in our room rate and was both plentiful and tasty. A couple of things were puzzling to us, one was that the master switch for the room lights appeared to be inside the front door. There did not appear to be another one near the (huge) bed. As such we had to walk to the door to turn off the master switch (which was also the light for the entrance hall) and walk in darkness back to the bed. There were also no sockets with which to charge a mobile phone next to the bed. This might be something to do with the rules on renovating an historic building, but anyway, as we are all now permanently connected to our phones it would have been more convenient to plug in next to the bed. A walk-in shower would have also been a bonus instead of climbing into and out of a bath. Had there been a grab handle on the facing wall it would have been much easier to climb in and out of the bath. Small points but hopefully management is listening. If we have to go back to this part of the Lisbon area we would stay there again without question. And the gardens in the palace opposite are a must see for anyone visiting this area. Rute Correia, Guest Services / Front Office at Pousada Palacio de Queluz, responded to this review Dear Mr Richard Patrick,Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review of your recent stay with us. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the comfort of the room, our breakfast, and the experience of staying in a historic, fully restored building. Your kind words about our team are especially appreciated and will be shared with them.We would also like to thank you for your constructive feedback, which is extremely valuable to us.Regarding the lighting, the main room lights are indeed switched on at the entrance. For guests’ comfort, there is an additional switch located between the beds that allows the entrance light to be turned off once you are settled, so there is no need to walk back to the door in darkness. Importantly, when the entrance light is switched off, all electrical sockets in the room remain fully powered and can be used normally to charge phones and other devices. We are very pleased to know that, despite these small points, you would choose to stay with us again, and we truly hope to welcome you back should your travels bring you to the Lisbon area in the future. We also agree — the gardens at the palace opposite are a real highlight and not to be missed.Kindest regardsRute CorreiaManagerPousada de Queluz

    A relaxing overnight

    rating17 Jan 2026

We had to make a day trip to Lisbon for an appointment so rather than drive back home afterwards, we booked an overnight here so we could visit the Palácio the next morning. We were greeted warmly by a friendly staff member who got us checked in, made a dinner reservation for us at a nearby restaurant, and offered helpful info about the Palácio. The room was warm (I was expecting it to be cold given the building's age and the fact that it was January) and comfortable and, most of all, quiet. In the morning, the shower was strong and the water hot and the included breakfast was a bigger spread of choices than one typically encounters. We enjoyed our brief stay quite a bit! Rute Correia, Guest Services / Front Office at Pousada Palacio de Queluz, responded to this review Dear David G,Thank you for sharing such thoughtful feedback about your overnight stay. We are delighted that our team’s warm welcome, assistance with dinner arrangements, and local insights added convenience to your visit. It is wonderful to hear that you found the room comfortable and quiet, and that the heating met your expectations during the winter season. We are also pleased that the strong shower and the generous breakfast selection contributed to a pleasant morning.Your kind words reinforce our commitment to attentive service and guest comfort. We appreciate your visit and look forward to welcoming you again for another enjoyable stay.Rute CorreiaManagerPousada Queluz

    Love the Pousadas

    rating21 Dec 2025

Have stayed in quite a few of the pousadas over the years while touring much of Portugal. Chose this pousada because of our positive experiences in the past and because of its location--adjacent to the palace, easy drive to other places we were interested in touring (Sintra, Lisbon, Estoril and Cascais). Not much of a lobby but rooms are spacious, attractively furnished, and the breakfast was very good. Service was helpful and welcoming. Parking was free and access was convenient. Rute Correia, Guest Services / Front Office at Pousada Palacio de Queluz, responded to this review Dear Mr Jay BeeThank you very much for sharing your wonderful review. It is a pleasure to know that your previous positive experiences with the Pousadas led you to stay with us, and that our location and service met your expectations. It is also great to hear that our convenient access and free parking contributed positively to your stay. We truly appreciate your visit and hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back on your next trip to the region.Rute CorreiaManagerPousada Queluz

A pleasant stay in a historic building!

    rating11 Nov 2025

When we arrived at the hotel we were warmly welcomed by a friendly receptionist who instructed us on practical matters and recommended nearby restaurants. Because we were going to stay there for ten days, we had sent a request for the room via email in advance. We were glad that our wishes were taken into consideration. The room was spacious and the beds were comfortable. Unfortunately, there were no comfortable chairs to sit in for reading. The bathroom was ok, but an upgrade would be needed. For instance, the water pressure in the shower was not sufficient. We liked the varied breakfast. The staff including the manager was service-oriented and friendly. All in all a pleasant stay in a historic building! Rute Correia, Guest Services / Front Office at Pousada Palacio de Queluz, responded to this review Dear guest,Thank you for sharing your experience with us and for choosing our Pousada for your extended stay. We are delighted to hear that our team’s warm welcome, room allocation, and restaurant recommendations helped you settle in comfortably. It is wonderful to know you enjoyed the spacious room, comfortable beds, and the variety at breakfast. We are equally pleased that our service-oriented team made a positive impression throughout your visit. We are sorry to learn that certain in-room furnishings and bathroom elements did not fully meet your expectations. Providing a restful environment with thoughtful comforts is central to our standards, and your observations are appreciated. We value your kind words about our historic setting and are grateful for your balanced feedback. We look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back for another pleasant stay.Rute CorreiaManagerPousada Queluz

    Highly recommended

    rating19 Jun 2025

I very much enjoyed my one-night stay. The staff was very nice, the room was large, clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was great. The pousada doesn't serve any other meals, but the very helpful and friendly staff gave several restaurant recommendations that were in walking distance. I recommend requesting a second floor room facing the Palacio Queluz because some of the first floor rooms do look out on the parking lot. It was easy and inexpensive to get here by prearranged taxi from the Lisbon airport, and from here to Sintra by Bolt (I think around 12 Euros). The Palace and Gardens are spectacular, and staying here is very convenient as it is just across the road from the pousada. I was able to tour the Palace when it first opened and nearly have it to myself. Rute Correia, Guest Services / Front Office at Pousada Palacio de Queluz, responded to this review Dear Guest,It fills us with joy to learn that you had a pleasant stay at our Pousada.
