  Misty place on the beach

  Me and my colleagues had a conference in Torres Vedras and all hotels were overbooked. So we have chosen a coastal hotel straight on the Atlantic beach. As there was 28 degrees by C in Lisbon and 25 degrees in Torres Vedras, our expectations were very high. Unfortunately there is totally different weather in Santa Cruz. Thick fog, cold and big waves. As we have mentioned this place is a paradise for surfing, not the best place for the beach holidays.Hotel itself is a nice place with familiar service. Rooms are huge: living room with the kitchen and separated bedroom plus balconies. Breakfast in included, but there is quite small choice of dishes. On the yard you can find a pool, but we did not use it. Distance to Torres Vedras is 15 km but if you take a rental car, this is not an issue.In summary: nice place and I recommend it to others.   A 3 star hotel with 5 star services!

  I recommend Hotel Praia Azul for the beautifull view of the ocean, the incredible food and the beautifull soul of the staff that always smiles. Staying here made me feel like at home but with great room service and sorounded by aweseome people. The hotel also has a bar with pool table and fusball where you can hang with your friends. The pool is very clean and has 2.20m. The rest I say to see for yourself...   The hotel needs to be renewed

  I booked for a 6 days staying, The first thing that bothered me was that I paid for an apartment with sea view (which are more expensive than the ones that don´t have it). When I arrived they gave me a shadowy apartment with lateral views of the sea from the room and no views from the dinning room, I asked if it were possible to change the apartment and they told me that there were not apartments available.The apartment was big and had the necessary stuff to cook. The furniture way too old, the curtains smell of dust and dirt, same the bed clothes (not the sheets). The cleaning service is available everyday but they don´t really do much, just sweep the floor scarcely and change towels, no new sheets, no cleaning thoroughly...I can´t understand why...maybe more staff is needed I wasn't comfortable sleeping with that blankets.Another problem of the apartment is that it was just above a room where there are parties at night which is really bothering though by midnight they're over.The place is ok but if you are looking for heat and having a long and relaxed swim, forget about it.The swimming pool is ok however is a bit abandoned.The price is way over what is offered.The best thing about the place is the chill and the sunsets (if you are capable of watching them from your balcony you're lucky...I couldn't even see the sun from it). The staff Flavio and Eunice really helpful and nice, hard-working people...they are the reason why I feel sorry about this bad review of the hotel. I hope the hotel take this review as a constructive opinion to improve their services, it's my intention.   I wish I could write a good review for this hotel because the staff was so kind, friendly and helpful. However, there were too many things that made this hotel feel below average. First, the location: literally in the middle of nowhere. Now I know some people are looking for isolation, tranquility and peace...but the decor and ambience was just too shabby to feel like a tranquil retreat. Second: the pool and beach were not inviting. If you surf, you might just love this beach. But the waves and currents were too rough for regular swimming. And the pool was very basic with no pretty landscaping or decor (and it was cold!). Third: the room/apartment. It was very humid and smelled moldy (this is due to the constant humidity/wind from the ocean, so I realize the hotel can't do anything about this). The size was good (we had a one bedroom with kitchen) but the decor and furniture was very drab. When we checked in, we were told that breakfast was between 10am-12pm. When we went down the next morning the dining room was EMPTY (i.e. no staff or guests). Apparently, you have tell them in advance that you want breakfast. We thought this was very strange but the staff was very kind and allowed my daughter to have a bowl of cereal for free (again, the staff, like most people we met in Portugal, were super friendly and kind). If you are used to upscale accommodations, then you will definitely be disappointed by this hotel. However, if you are looking for just a basic place to sleep after surfing all day, then this place might be for you. Oh and one more thing: the Wifi was practically non-existent so this might be an issue for some people.
