    Nice rooms and service-minded staff

    rating09 Oct 2020

The hotel was under renovation during both visits, September 2018 and 2019. We were well informed about the situation on beforehand and since we were out during the day there was no issues with noise from the workers. The circumstances were of course reflected in the price we payed. The newly renovated rooms are nicely decorated and, when the renovation is complete, this might be our standard hotel for future stays in the city. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Receptionists were professional and friendly. The lady in charge of the breakfast is probably the best morning person I have ever met. Even though they had not gotten the information from the booking site that one in our company needed a special diet for breakfast they manage to sort it out over night. We were impressed and thankful for the service. We would have stayed a few nights this autumn again if it had not been for the pandemic virus.

    Good value for money

    rating19 Feb 2020

Came here for 3 nights. Before booking we new that the hotel were still undergoing renovations but it was a good price so booked anyway. When we turned up we were like oh dear it's like a building site what have we done, BUT, as we walked to our room it was like walking through to Narnia. It was a totally different hotel. All modern, new, clean etc. The beds were comfy, we had clean towels every morning, they cleaned the room every day and there is a mini fridge if u wanted to put ur drinks in etc.. it was lovely. The only noise from the builders were from 8am so it wasnt bad at all. The only thing negatiive I'd say about the room is that one of the sinks were blocked so everytime I used it, it kept filling up and it smelt of drains. Also that the bed was not a double, it was two beds pushed together. But that's just a small thing.Breakfast room was a disappointment compared to the rooms, but again, they are still fixing the hotel so im sure once it's all done it will all be lovely like the rooms are. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast which consisted of cereals, yogurts, fruit, cake, bread, cheese, ham, scrambled eggs, beans and bacon was ok too. The location was good but you still need to walk 10-15 mins to the metro station which is down the hill so again not to bad at all.All in all I would recommend this hotel to others. Yes some parts are still old but it's still undergoing renovations and what they have done so far is lovely. Its Good value for money and good location. Thanks for a lovely stay.

    Cheap & Cheerful in Lisbon

    rating01 Aug 2019

A decent low cost hotel has been the main factor in prohibiting me from visiting Lisbon in the past, and as such the Hotel Residencial Caravela seemed a godsend. A private toilet seems to be something of a premium in this city, so the slightly out-of-the-centre location seemed little inconvenience in comparison.Truth be told you are about 20 minutes walk to the center, or significantly quicker if you get the nearby Metro at Marques de Pombal. Neighbourhood is by no means rough, but also not the most touristy, with little in the way of bars or cafes surrounding it. There are a couple of small grocery stores though so you can stock up on essentials. The hotel itself was in the midst of renovations when I visited, which meant I secured a newly decorated, very fresh feeling room with a a modern bathroom complete with very good shower. Truth be told the only real giveaway to the hotel's past was the breakfast room, which renovations hadn't reached, which looked like it was last done up in the 1970s. Given I'd only spend half an hour or so each day there this wasn't a massive problem for me.The breakfast itself was a fairly standard continental buffet. Ticked all the necessary boxes without standing out. Truth be told, I was perfectly taken with the hotel. Cheap, cheerful, clean and pretty much what I look for as a solo traveller. I plan on visiting Lisbon again in the near future and I'd absolutely stay here again.

I cancelled my reservation because the place wasn’t a 3 Stars hotel. And Kayak shows as a 3 Stars, they need to update their information. Honesyly is a 1 Star hotel. The stars were erased. The receptionist was very understandable and let us cancelled without any problem.

Refurbished hotel on a good price

    rating09 Jun 2018

The hotel's room is perfectly renewed, refurbished. (New furnitures, everything) We were totally satisfied with it. The staff cleaned it every day, they changed the towels as well. The only problem was the breakfast, the breakfast room is not renewed yet, it was a time traveling to go up there. There was only 1 ham, 1 cheese, butter and jam every day.
