Decent location...not in the core area but there are restaurants and markets very close.Nice restaurant and fantastic breakfast in the hotel.Nice little breakfast to go if catching an early flight.Third floor rooms not bad... Fourth floor rooms NOT great.Be prepared to hear trains if on the one side of the hotel. Fourth floor rooms are small and in need of updates.Lovely people at the desk.

Convenient Location Near the Metro, But Noise and Limited Customer Service Were Disappointing

    rating07 Mar 2026

My husband and I stayed four nights at Hotel Roma during our visit to Lisbon. When we arrived, the lobby was bright and welcoming, and our first interaction with the front desk staff was pleasant. Before arriving, I had read reviews mentioning train noise, so we asked if it was possible to have a room with a view that was farther from the nearby train line. The staff recommended that we try the room we were assigned and explained that the double-pane windows would minimize the sound. One unexpected issue was the elevator. It was extremely small and was advised to use another elevator on the premises that operated more smoothly. With my husband, myself, the bellhop, one medium suitcase, one small suitcase, and two backpacks, the space felt very cramped and somewhat claustrophobic. Because of this, we started using another elevator located farther away from our room equally small in size but without operational issues. The room itself was small but comfortable for two adults. The décor felt more traditional than modern, with a lot of wood finishes—wood floors, window frames, and furniture. The bed was firmer than I would have preferred so the first couple of nights were tough.Unfortunately, the room ended up being quite noisy due to the nearby train. When we asked the front desk if it might be possible to change rooms, we were told the hotel was fully booked and that no other rooms were available. We also noticed there were no ice buckets in the room. When we asked for ice on two occasions, we were directed to the bar and were given two small coffee cups of ice.During our stay, it sometimes felt like guest requests were treated more as inconveniences than opportunities to assist. One staff member who really stood out was Ademar, who was consistently friendly and helpful. He gladly helped with directions, suggested places to visit, and recommended local activities. His customer service made a positive difference in our experience.ProsHelpful staff member (Ademar)Convenient location near the metro, supermarkets, and restaurantsEasy access to explore LisbonConsTrain noise in some roomsVery small elevatorsLimited accommodation for guest requestsWhile the location was convenient and we appreciated Ademar’s kindness, the overall experience did not meet our expectations. Because of this, we unfortunately would not choose to stay here again when visiting Lisbon. André Freire, Diretor-Geral at Hotel Roma, responded to this review Dear H8809NTcynthiah,Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review of your recent stay with us. Your feedback is very important, as it helps us continuously improve the quality of our services and the experience we provide to our guests. We are pleased to hear that you found our lobby welcoming and that your first interaction with our reception team was positive. It is also very gratifying to know that Ademar made a particularly positive impression during your stay. We will certainly share your kind words with him, as recognition from our guests is always very meaningful to our team.At the same time, we sincerely regret that some aspects of your stay did not fully meet your expectations. Food poisoning from the restaurant

    rating25 Jan 2026

Despite the room being so loud and the housekeeping taking my towels, I could have lived with that. The restaurant was so rude and barely would hand me a menu and when I ordered, they didn’t have it and had to come back minutes later to tell me that. However, the worst part was the restaurant gave me food poisoning where I was throwing up all night. I had never been so violently ill in my life. When I told the hotel about it, they said “ok”. I didn’t even ask for anything, I was telling them to check their expired meat. A really poor showing of this hotel. André Freire, Diretor-Geral at Hotel Roma, responded to this review Dear Mrs. jillg404, We would like to thank you for taking the time to share your opinion on your stay at Hotel Roma. We are sorry to learn that certain aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations, particularly regarding the noise, the housekeeping misunderstanding about your towels, and the service you experienced in the Bar. This is certainly not the standard of service we aim to provide, and your comments have been shared with the relevant teams for review.Regarding your comment about becoming unwell we are naturally very concerned whenever a guest reports feeling ill. As we spoke, Hotel Roma works with an indepedent company that oversees all food safety and hygiene procedures in line with all required regulations, and we have not received any similar reports. Nevertheless, your feedback has been shared with our restaurant management team so that they can review the matter carefully. We also regret if your concern was not addressed with the level of attention you expected at the time. This is not the experience we wish any guest to have and again, we sincerely apologize. We appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention, as feedback allows us to continue improving our service.Kind regards,André FreireGeneral Manager

    Nice and clean hotel

    rating20 Jan 2026

Just returned from Hotel Roma. Great hotel and location. The metro is about a 2 minute walk away and there is ample room for cabs, if that is your preference. The airport is less than 10 minute drive away. The rooms size was more that adequate and the rooms and hotel itself was very clean. Staff was courteous. The wifi in the room was in/out, but fine in the lobby. I only took part in the breakfast, what was very serviceable and the staff kept the food options replenished and the dining room clean. Unfortunately i was not able to visit the cocktail bar, but patrons seemed to be enjoying themselves as i passed by. Nice hotel i would stay again and recommend. Nuno Lapa, Guest Services / Front Office at Hotel Roma, responded to this review Thank you very much for sharing your experience and for your kind recommendation. We are delighted to know that you enjoyed our hotel, its convenient location close to the metro and airport, the cleanliness of the rooms and common areas, and the courtesy of our staff. We appreciate your comments regarding the breakfast service and are pleased to hear that our team maintained both the food selection and dining area to a high standard. We regret that the Wi-Fi connection in the room was not consistently stable and thank you for bringing this to our attention. Your feedback has been noted and shared with the relevant team.It is a pleasure to know that you would stay with us again and recommend Hotel Roma. We truly look forward to welcoming you back on a future visit.Kind Regards,

    Budget hotel!?

    rating12 Jan 2026

I've stayed in a few hotels and would never classify Roma as a budget hotel. Location is excellent with easy access to the metro, train station and taxis. I often walked to the river front and that too was safe and straightforward...if a little long! The reception process was easy with plenty of lounge access if, as happened to me, I'd arrived too early for check-in. My room was as indicated on the Web page. The standard of housekeeping was excellent. As with the rest of the hotel, it was always spotlessly clean. I prefer to drink tea. So I took my own kettle and products..it was not an issue!Plenty of choice was offered at the buffet breakfast. I went early and usually there was plenty of space available. Tour coaches do stop overnight which can make it busier. But I never failed to find a table, or the food that I wanted.Lunch blew me away! Top quality food, well cooked and I never left feeling hungry or disappointed. I sometimes supplemented my food with a bottle of wine and at 11 euros for a decent house wine..a bargain for a Brit used to U.K. prices. But more than that, I was always made to feel welcome by the professional staff working in the restaurant, I was humbled by their ability to converse in English.Would I stay again? Of course I would. A room with a balcony, high up gave brilliant roof top views down towards Lisbon centre. Sunrise/set also provided an amazing colourful site. Many thanks. Nuno Lapa, Guest Services / Front Office at Hotel Roma, responded to this review Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a comprehensive and thoughtful review of your stay with us.
