Location

This hotel is located in the leisure district of Lisbon just a few minutes walk from the city centre where guests will discover countless sights, bars, restaurants, cinemas, shopping and entertainment venues. Located on the prestigious Avenida da Liberdade at the heart of the Portuguese capital, the historical old town district of Alfama is to be found close by. The city airport is just 7 km away and links to the public transport are to be found directly in front of the complex.

Facility

The hotel has 171 non-smoking rooms, which are located on 9 storeys and are reachable by lift. The reception desk is open round the clock. Amenities include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe and currency exchange service. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities. There are a number of shops as well. A garden provides extra space for rest and relaxation in the open air. Additional facilities include a library. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage (for a fee) or in the car park. Rooms

Air conditioning and central heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. All rooms are carpeted and include a king-size bed and a sofa bed. Extra beds can be requested. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. Guests will also find a tea/coffee station included among the standard features. An ironing set is provided for guests' convenience. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio, an alarm clock and WiFi are provided as well. Slippers are included. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower and a bathtub. While the adults swim a few laps in the outdoor pool, children can enjoy splashing about in their own swimming area. Comfortable sun loungers are available on the terrace. Refreshing drinks are served at the poolside snack bar. There are many ways to relax or stay active at the hotel, including golf, a gym, a spa, a sauna, a steam bath and massage treatments.     I have stayed here before. Very few quality luxury full service properties in Lisbon with the Sofitels prime location. Right on the beautiful tree lined Av. da Liberdade, the SofitelIs close to attractions, shopping and great restaurants. Rooms are nice sized, bed is comfortable and service is outstanding. Hotel has good sound proofing; room was quiet. The buffet breakfast was excellent.A couple of notes and negative points. I hate the shower/tub. Very slippery even with the rubber floor mat. No grab rails either. Rooms could use a bit of refresh. Overall a nice stay for business.     Good location to stay in Lisbon as its flat. Walking distance to many places. Our room was on the small side but its ok.     Located on Avenida Da Liberdade the hotel is well located for many attractions and cafes and restaurants with a Metro Station within a few metres of the front door. We stayed for three nights as part of an Ama Waterways pre-cruise.The main lobby is light, bright and welcoming, check-in was quick and all of the staff we encountered were friendly, helpful and efficient. Our room on the 3rd floor was a decent size, double bed (soft mattress), table and chair but limited hanging and storage space. TV and refrigerator and a nice bathroom with a small walk-in shower but no grab rail. Good quality toiletries, large wall mirror, shaving mirror and a nice size washbasin. The room was very clean with good lighting but outside pedestrian noise intruded in the early hours including bin collections on one night.Breakfast was taken in a room specifically assigned to our group and was plentiful, diverse and well presented. Staff were extremely helpful and well organised.On the few occasions we dined in town we enjoyed Selllva on Rua Mouzinho Da Silveira, Grand Cafe Lisboa on Restauradores Square and Cafe Nicola on Praca Dom Pedro IV.We enjoyed our stay at the Sofitel Lisbon Liberdade and would certainly recommend.     Had a wonderful experience with my family, the location, rooms and staff were excellent and extremely helpful. It started with Andre' who greeted us when we arrived, throughout our stay his was on point, always making sure we had everything we needed. The front dest, forgot his name was excellent as well, even the bartender was 100% service. This team has been well trained.     4 Star Experience at 5 Star Price

    It was a fine hotel... Would certainly say it's 4 star, not 5 star. At first, I thought, "ok, so this is what a 5 star in Portugal is," but then I stayed at another 5 star in Portugal and now know it's not. The hotel was nice, don't get me wrong, but things were hit and miss, and the location really isn't that great unless all you want to do is shop. It's on the high-end street, and yes, techincally 15-20 minutes from everything, it takes forever to get a Bolt/Uber and getting out of the street takes 10 minutes on its own. It's at the bottom of all the hills so if you want to walk anywhere besides the tourist area on the water, plan to walk up steep hills! Doorment only offered helping certain people with their luggage or getting them taxis. Certainly serves an older/retired crowd. The bar/loung/lobby was filled with them. If this is your crowd, rock on, but if you're in your 30s or 40s, may not be the vibe you want. Breakfast at the restaurant is totally not worth 30 Euros, or even a la carte. Problem is there aren't many other options nearby (unless you walk up a BIG hill 15 minutes). First morning I did buffet, and there just isn't a huge selection. Next day I decided to do a la carte, I ordered coffee, an omelet, and yogurt... but also water and milk for my coffee, which were additional charges. So it came to 27 Euros. The room was quiet on the back side of the hotel, so I liked that. The bed was comfortable but, certainly sank in certain spots and the pillows way too light and I got bad knots in my neck. Maybe that's me though. As far as the bathroom, personally I don't like a shower that doesn't have a shelf/way to put your own stuff (any form of face wash). And no light switches inside the bathroom, so you have to turn on the lights outside the bathroom... annoying if you are sharing the room with another person. The handheld head in the shower didn't stay in the holder. I get these are personal preferences, but annoying in my opinion. But the real kicker was the housekeeping. After the first day, the shower gel ran out so I asked the front desk to please make sure they refill it. When I get back that day, they didn't refill it, but instead put a whole new bottle in the shower. Ok, fine... but then the next day, the housekeeping took the new bottle and hadn't refilled the shower gel in the original bottle!!! They also didn't refill the toilet paper one day (I called, and someone - 40 minutes later - brought up two roles and gave me a weird look), and never refilled the toiletry/ammenity kit (ie, cotton swabs) once on my 4 night stay. When I did request an iron and ironing board, they brought it quickly and were very nice. Upon checkout I was planning to tell them about all this, but they never asked how my stay was. They also didn't ask if they could help with my luggage/get me taxi/etc. They just asked if I had anything from the mini bar.If I were to do it again, I would stay in Principe Real at the top of the hill. OR at 'The One' - I went there for their wine bar, and it was immaculate and all of the professionals and clientele were certainly 5 star. If Sofitel had labeled itself as a 4 star, I would have been satisfied.
