  Upscale Youth Hostel, Good For Older People

  Judging from the videos being playing in the lobby and the overall vibe, I think this chain is aiming for the younger generation. However, there were plenty of older people staying while we were there.There were two couples, we were the ones from outside Portugal, so we were assigned what was described as the 'better' of the two rooms. The other couple took a brief look at their room and switched. I didn't see their room but was told that it mainly featured bunk beds and could possibly sleep four.The room we got wasn't that much bigger than the bed and small desk inside. However the bed was comfortable and overall we got a couple of good night's sleep. There was only a shower, no bathtub which is a minus. The location was excellent, a short walk from a fine public square and about a 20 minute walk to the waterfront. The breakfast was also first-rate. Overall I wouldn't want to spend all day in the room, but you don't go to a place like Lisbon to spend all your time in hotel.   Wow, just returned from 3 nights at the Central House LisbonThe best hostel I've ever stayed in, by farRooms are impeccably clean, beds are very comfy, just like train sleepsBreakfast was basic, however for the price excellent valueThe staff were awesome 😁😁😁Would recommend this place to anyone, I've stayed in worse 4* hotelsThanks Central House your amazing

  The receptionist when we arrived was not cool at all. So a bad start.The room for the four of us was tiny, hard to move around but the beds were rather comfy. The breakfast was really basic I must say. No sausages, no bacon and not even correct juice or fruit.This place is well situated but that’s about the only positive point.   Disappointed by the Lack of Basic Hospitality

  I stayed here for three nights with a friend, and sadly, we left with a very negative impression. On the day we were checking out, there was a city-wide power outage around noon. We left for the airport as planned, but due to unexpected flight problems, we had to return later in the day, hoping the hotel could help us stay another night.Given that the blackout had started shortly after checkout, it was reasonable to assume that our room hadn’t been cleaned or reassigned yet. Still, the receptionist showed zero willingness to help. We waited for the electricity to return, as he said he needed the system to check availability, but once the power came back, he simply shrugged and told us to look somewhere else. No effort, no options, no care.Even more frustrating was that other hotels we approached were surprised our own hotel wouldn’t take us back. Some told us they were saving rooms in case their guests returned from the airport — which is exactly what our hotel should have done. It was embarrassing having strangers show more understanding and empathy than the place we had actually stayed.During the nights we did stay, the AC was automatically set to 19°C, and I woke up cold every single night around 3 AM, with no way to change it.The room itself was very small for the price, and while we accepted that early on, overall the experience simply didn’t justify the cost.This hotel offered no support, no flexibility, and no real care for its guests. I wouldn’t return or recommend it to others.
