    Customer Service Needs Improvement … greedy hotel

    Bad Customer Service- Refused to refund money ($496.32) after cancellation even though they had 11 days notice. Cancelled due to devastation in Portugal from Cyclones, flooding, road/home wash outs. They made double money by renting it out again.

    We spent 5 nights here. The room was clean but small. Service was very good and front desk was helpful. Nice little bar in lobby with great bartender and a good happy hour. Breakfast buffet was good. Price was right. Location was good. It was about a one mile walk to center of town.

    Our 2 night stay at the Turim Saldanha Hotel in Lisbon was a pleasant stay. The hotel is well located in the centre of the city although we did not find a large shopping mall. We had a problem with two busloads turning up for breakfast at the same time but that was fixed for the next day. Rooms, while not huge were comfortable and well appointed.

    The hotel let us down. I had booked a twin room, as was travelling with my son, but we were given a double room and then there was no hot water in our room. We had arrived late after a day of travelling and sightseeing wanting a warm shower before bed - so this was awful. Eventually, after much to and fro with reception (manager not available) we had to pack up our belongings and move to another double room. Sadly, this room also had a fault in the bathroom in that the mixer tap in the bath was faulty. We complained but there were no other spare rooms. The tap did not get fixed during our three night stay. The manager "manages" more than one hotel and was not readily available and did not resolve the issue.

    Hotel was nice. Clean room, nice bathroom, nice bed, good bar, very friendly staff. I liked the place a lot, my only complaint being its location. It was a 45 minute walk to the old town, where most attractions and restaurants are. With the terrain of Lisbon the walk was easy one way, and brutal the other. Hotel was as good as it can be considering the location.
