  An extremely well run hotel. Friendly, helpful staff, nice breakfast - you order whatever you like and they make it to order. The bed is comfortable, the shower a good size and it is very convenient with lots of restaurants nearby.

  A Little Gem!

  A small hotel with a modern interior in a central location. Despite this, there was little exterior noise from people or traffic. Room was clean and relatively spacious and the breakfasts were tasty with plentiful portions (chosen from a menu). All staff were friendly and accommodating.

  A nice small hotel located on a charming street in the old town. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts were good and healthy. Excellent coffee and fresh juice every day.We were, however, a bit disappointed with the room, as the photos on the website did not fully match reality. The bed was a little too firm for my taste, and the pillows were lumpy.That said, the location is very good, and one of the restaurants on the street, Americano, gave us the best dining experience of our trip.

  Fantastic hotel - the staff make it so special

  This place is a great find - a small hotel with stunning decor, amazingly friendly staff and beautiful, modern rooms. The hotel is on a pedestrian street with lots of bars, shops and restaurants on your doorstep, a great central location to walk anywhere in Funchal. There's a taxi drop off right by the hotel, or the airport bus drops you 5 mins away.A special mention goes to the breakfast/cafe staff - they were so genuinely friendly and welcoming, and the a la carte breakfast and daytime food was superb.My only suggestion would be to keep the cafe/bar open later so that there is a place for evening drinks. However, with numerous bars on your doorstep this is not really a problem!Thoroughly recommend, and will be going back.

  Wonderful hotel in the heart of Funchal

  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Caju. The location in Funchal can't be beat; it's right in the heart of the centre and you can walk almost anywhere. The hotel feels quite new, the entire building seems to have been recently renovated. As a result it feels really modern and stylish throughout. Staff were professional and efficient. We stayed in the Junior Suite and loved it. The room was so spacious, modern and well appointed. There was a wrap around balcony with views across Funchal that I really appreciated. The bathroom was huge as well. Robes are provided along with a Nespresso machine for morning coffee. The hotel was so quiet and peaceful, we barely heard anything throughout our 5 night stay.They offer breakfast though we only had it once, as we were up really early almost daily to get out to hiking trails. The breakfast was tasty the day we did have it, and plenty of options were available. On the mornings we were up early, we took advantage of the hotel's breakfast to go, which was pre-packaged boiled eggs, a couple of small sandwiches, some nuts and some fruit. This worked quite well for us for our early starts and we greatly appreciated this, as nothing on the island is open to source food elsewhere that early. We had prearranged parking, which as others have noted, is at the sister property, The Vine Hotel, about a 5 minute walk away. We didn't mind the walk to and from the garage at all. I will say though, on check in it was quite confusing - we had been advised to pass by the hotel first and drop our bags / check-in. But when we arrived we discovered there is nowhere to stop at all without blocking the road, which we ended up doing briefly. I dropped my partner and the bags and kept going, but I didn't know where specifically the garage entrance was. In hindsight, I would've appreciated some more information in advance regarding how this works. The other thing I will note about the parking, is that going to the car early in the morning (around 6AM), we never could figure out any way of getting down to the garage other than walking down the ramp from the street. Not a big deal, but it didn't seem right and was a bit of a hassle. That said, these were minor inconveniences and it wouldn't stop me from booking again. I will be back one day.
