    Top place

    rating24 Apr 2026

Stayed at this hotel over Easter for 2weeks as a family of 3. It is genuinely top place. Great location, excellent facilities, fantastic food and bar. Friendly, polite and very efficient staff. For those who need few details:located right on the beach, with that superior feel when one can enjoy the privacy of a boutique hotel but just meters from a very popular public place.About an hour from the Airport, but to secure the best weather in Madeira - well worth the ride.Facilities, apart from the standard set one can expect from a good hotel: sauna, steam room, small heated indoor pool, access to amazing A la carte restaurant(booking is needed though).Massive plus is convenient parking for your (perhaps rented) car. The reception staff also helped with car rental for us. Reasonably priced Spa.Food has great variety and is themed by night (Portuguese, Brazilian, Madeiran, Oriental, Italian, Mexican+ Chefs night ) but as a rule, everyday and every meal-selections of fish, meat, very fresh salads, pasta, rice are available, We are not vegetarians but I feel that would not be a problem here. In two weeks we never got bored. Deserts and fruits are heavenly.Wines(including sparkling) are of a very decent quality, so are the stronger choices. Barmen do not cut corners with cocktails- very meticulous and complete. If you order Negroni- you get full on Negroni, with the right glass, right amount, right recipe, right garnishing. Coffees are top notch: very good beans, not too acidic if it's your thing. The tea station is the most impressive I have ever seen in a hotel of such category. Service is immaculate throughout restaurants and bars. The buffet area is kept clean, topped up, fresh and appetising.Rooms are comfortable, warm and cosy(wooden floors which we prefer). Beds and beddings are very good. Room cleaning is efficient and flexible. Toiletries are on a better side too.All in all, we have had a great stay here. Despite capricious weather this time of the year, every day was enjoyed and the hotel served either as a base from which we explored the island or an extremely comfortable place to spend the day in. Highly recommend and we hope to be back in the future Guest Experience, Guest Services / Front Office at Calheta Beach, responded to this review Dear Alex,What a wonderful way to start the week, reading your words with a smile and a great sense of pride on behalf of the entire Calheta Beach team. Two weeks with your family over Easter is a precious gift, and knowing that every corner of the hotel played its part in making those days truly memorable means the world to us. From the restaurant to the bar, from the spa to the rooms, each team member puts their heart into what they do, and your review is a beautiful reflection of that collective effort. We were particularly touched by the detail with which you described your experience. The Negroni observation alone made our bartenders' day, and we will make sure your kind words reach every department that contributed to your stay.It is also lovely to hear that, despite the unpredictable spring weather, each day was enjoyed to the fullest. That is exactly what Calheta is about: whether the sky is golden or the clouds roll in from the mountains, there is always something to savour, inside and out.We truly hope this was not the last chapter of your story with us, and that you and your family will find your way back to this little corner of the Atlantic, where the sea whispers a welcome and every sunset feels like a reason to return. With our warmest regards,Rafael Gomes Guest Experience Team Calheta Beach Hotel

Sandy beach, pretty sunsets, all included.

    rating20 Apr 2026

It is a nice hotel in a very pretty area in Madeira. With a sandy beach, big rooms, amazing staff. All included. The only thing I would suggest is to add a body lotion and hair conditioner to the bathroom. And maybe to replace a safe with the one you enter a code in instead of using a separate key which can be lost during the day. And special thanks to Christina Abreu (at the reception), she is amazing! Guest Experience, Guest Services / Front Office at Calheta Beach, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review. It truly warms our hearts to know that you enjoyed your stay with us and that the beauty of our surroundings, the comfort of our rooms and the dedication of our team left a positive impression. We have taken careful note of your suggestions regarding the bathroom amenities and the in-room safe. Feedback such as yours is invaluable, as it allows us to continuously reflect on and refine the experience we offer to each of our guests. We are especially touched by your special mention of our colleague. She is indeed a wonderful member of our reception team, and we will make sure your kind words are passed on to her. Recognition such as this means a great deal, both to us and to the individuals who pour their dedication into every guest interaction. We hope that your time here in Madeira has left you with warm and lasting memories, and that we may have the pleasure of welcoming you back one day for another truly special escape. With our warmest regards,Rafael GomesGuest Experience TeamCalheta Beach Hotel

Nice place to visit in Calheta

    rating31 Mar 2026

We stayed for a week at the end of March. The Hotel is medium sized so has all the conveniences you would expect in an all inclusive destination, but is still quite intimate, so you get to know the reception and catering staff which might not be possible in one of the bigger hotels. We had a suite which overlooked the harbour. The décor in the room is getting a bit tided but is perfectly serviceable. The only small issue we had was that there could have been a bit more drawer or shelf space for storing clothes. Food was plentiful and the choice was good, there should be something for everyone. You also got unlimited access to a more private dining experience as long as you booked prior to going. We tended to go out during the day and it was pleasing that the hotel would pack a lunch for you as long as you booked the previous evening. If you are staying around the hotel then there were always sufficient sun beds and the entertainment team seemed to keep those who wanted activities happy. It seemed that most employees speak at least some French, English and German as well as Portuguese. I think that covered all the languages we heard, so no-one was left out of communication. If you wanted, the public yellow sandy beach was right outside the hotel, but be aware this may get busy during weekends or school holidays as it is one of only two yellow sand beaches on the island. The water in March was also notably warmer than in the hotel pool.In all, a really great place to visit if you prefer your holiday on the quieter side. There was a daily shuttle to Funchal if you wanted to take advantage, which was charged extra. Thanks to the team for all your efforts. Guest Experience, Guest Services / Front Office at Calheta Beach, responded to this review Dear Gary,What a wonderfully detailed and thoughtful review. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with such care.We are truly delighted to read that the intimacy of the hotel, the suite overlooking the harbour, the food, the packed lunches and the team's multilingual warmth all contributed to a memorable stay. These are details that our team works hard to get right every single day, and it means a great deal to know they were noticed and appreciated.Your observation regarding the drawer and shelf space, as well as the room décor, has been noted and will be shared with the relevant team for consideration. Feedback like yours helps us understand where we can continue to improve. We are also glad you had the chance to enjoy the beach right outside our door. There is something truly special about one of only two yellow sand beaches on the island being just a few steps away.We hope Calheta gave you the quieter, more meaningful holiday experience you were looking for, and that the island left its mark on you in the best possible way.We would love to welcome you back, Gary. With our warmest regards,Rafael GomesGuest Experience TeamCalheta Beach Hotel

Fabulous week at the Savoy signature hotel Calheta beach.Wonderful hotel great hospitality. The cleanliness was exceptional a credit to the manager and his team.Probably the best all inclusive selection and quality of food we have experienced.Bar service was excellent with friendly knowledgeable staff. Guest Experience, Guest Services / Front Office at Calheta Beach, responded to this review Dear David,Thank you for these wonderfully kind words, they mean the world to us.Hospitality is not something we simply practice here, it is something we feel. Behind every smile, every carefully prepared dish and every attentive gesture at the bar, there is a team that genuinely cares about the people who walk through our doors. Knowing that you felt that warmth throughout your stay touches us deeply. The fact that you highlighted the cleanliness, the quality and variety of the food and the friendliness of our bar team fills us with pride. These are not small things for us, they are the heartbeat of everything we do.A fabulous week under the Calheta sun, with the Atlantic just steps away and a team that gave everything to make it memorable. Exceptional Hotel

    rating17 Mar 2026

This was my first solo holiday for very personal reasons. On arrival the staff were simply awesome. Kind, informative and very friendly. I chose to have an upgrade to a sea view room in case I wasn't very sociable and just needed to look out to sea! That said, the entertainment and facilities were awesome. There was nothing to comment adversely upon this hotelThe resort is quite remote from main areas (if you want to explore further - you need to plan) but I loved it and suited me Nice restaurants close by also and a marina. The food (I was all inclusive) was exceptional. Being coeliac I was well catered for BUT I would have liked sliced GF bread to put in a (separate) toaster and not just bagette roll option that were available amongst other things. Nothing was an effort at this hotel. The hotel was clean and every day I could have had a change of accessories but felt guilty! It is in a very quite location so no noise as such except the waves!Value for money? - wee bit more travelling solo but worth it!I arrived home last night - 16th March 2026 and I have already booked to go back for a week on 15th March 2027. Please can I have the same room (506) ?!! Alex H. This time, as a familiar face. With our warmest regards,Rafael GomesGuest Experience TeamCalheta Beach Hotel
