Location

The hotel is in the small town of Santo de Serra between the park and the golf club of the same name. Restaurants, bars and shopping opportunities are all well within walking distance, located only about 1 km away. The nearest public transport links are practically on the doorstep, approximately 100 m away. It's around 7 km to the beach and the nearest disco and Funchal airport are around 9 km away.

Facility

Guests have a choice of 68 double rooms located in two 2-storey buildings. Check-in and check-out are possible at any time at the 24-hour reception desk. Amenities include a cloakroom, a safe and a currency exchange service. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. A fireplace creates a cosy atmosphere.     Pros: The concept of the hotel makes it a nice place to explore - surrounded by gardens with farm animals and amazing nature. Perfect place for 2-3 days. Friendly stuff. Nice cosy rooms. Hotel is pretty clean. Good spa included in your stay. Cons: poor sound isolation, food is okay but limited selection. Buffet restaurant gives rather canteen vibes. Also it’s pretty cold inside the hotel and humidity makes it worse so be prepared.     One Rude Staff Member

    I was there for 2 weeks and Enotel Santo De Serra has one rude staff member.It was enjoyable the rooms were clean, good facilities BUT this one worker called Bumherto or something had the cheek to call me and my colleagues names in Portuguese when he was checking restaurant for availability, unknowingly to him one of us if fluent in Portuguese. Overall I am very disappointed in this experience as the hotel is nice.     Nice hotel with good food near some amenities

    My husband and I stayed at this hotel for two nights as part of a walking holiday with Headwater. It is a beautiful, quiet hotel near the centre of the small village which had a supermarket as well as some other bars, shops etc. The room was a little basic but adequate for our needs as we were walking each day. My only complaint was that there was a door stop behind the toilet door right in front of the loo meaning it was easy to stub your toe. We had to place a towel over it to stop this happening.The staff are all really friendly and can't do enough to help. Breakfast and evening meal was included which was a tasty buffet with plenty of choice and good quality. The main building had a bar and beautiful swimming pool which included a steam room and Sauna. We were also provided dressing gowns in the room for use around the hotel. We were provided with a pack lunch one day but unfortunately found the sandwiches too dry made with thick brown homemade bread so did not eat them.     Very peaceful location up in the hills and ideal for walking and relaxing with excellent food and sizeable spa. The hotel has been recently refurbished to a high standard, but has also managed to maintain some of its unique charm by keeping birds and animals (outside in aviaries and pens!) and growing vegetables and herbs for the kitchen on the sizeable smallholding. There is very little to see or do in Santo da Serra, apart from walks around the hotel’s lovely gardens and nearby park - making car hire desirable, if exploring Madeira is part of your trip. Otherwise couldn’t fault the hotel - very comfortable and helpful staff. Would probably recommend a few nights stay - a week in such an isolated spot was just a little too long.

    Very professional staff. Good English. Very helpful. One of us is Vegan. Staff very knowledge and told me what of the food was vegan. Even made me special vegan desert. Hotel immaculate. Beautiful views for sunrise and sunset. Very nature oriented in the secure with plants, etc. one of the best hotels we’ve stayed at. Had much food to chose fri. For breakfast and dinner.
