Location

The hotel is situated in the exclusive tourist area along Monumental Road. It is only 300 m from the sea, the water sports complex, the Lido and the Maritime Promenade. In the area surrounding the hotel guests will find a wide range of restaurants and bars as well banks, a pharmacy and shops. The centre of Funchal is only 2.5 km away.

Facility

103 apartments are located on 11 storeys and can be reached by lift. The reception desk is open round the clock. Amenities include a baggage storage service and a safe. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The apartment hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities. There are a number of shops as well. The grounds of the hotel feature a playground and a lovely garden. Additional amenities include a TV room, a playroom and a library. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park. Further services and facilities include medical assistance, an alarm call service, a laundry service, a hairdresser and a coin-operated laundry.

Rooms

Air conditioning and a fan ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. In most units, guests can enjoy a view of the sea from a balcony or terrace. The rooms have a double bed and a sofa bed. Extra beds can be requested. A safe and a desk are also available. There is a fully-equipped kitchenette with a refrigerator, microwave, tea/coffee station and oven. An ironing set is provided for guests' convenience. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio, an alarm clock and WiFi are provided as well. A hairdryer and a telephone are provided in the bathrooms, which include a shower and a bathtub. Cosmetic products and a selection of towels provide additional comfort in the bathrooms. Wheelchair-friendly rooms can be booked. Family rooms are available for parents with children.

Sport

There are indoor and outdoor pools and a children's swimming area. Guests can treat themselves to refreshing drinks at the poolside snack bar and a relaxing soak in the hot tub. A short break or an entire afternoon on the sun terrace, which features sun loungers and parasols, is time well spent. For guests who wish to keep active, tennis, beach volleyball and basketball are available. Guests can take part in a comprehensive water sports programme, which includes snorkelling and aquafit, with water skiing, windsurfing, jet skiing, motorboat rides, paddle boating, canoeing, sailing and diving available for a fee. Sports enthusiasts are also offered a wide range of indoor activities, including a gym, table tennis, billiards and darts. Various wellness options are available at the hotel, including a spa, a sauna, a beauty salon and massage treatments. Guests of all ages have the opportunity to enjoy a fun entertainment programme.

Meals

Dining facilities include a restaurant (with high chairs), a café and a bar. Catering options include half board and full board. A delicious and varied buffet awaits guests at breakfast. For dinner, guests can order à la carte. A set menu can be ordered at dinner. Diet meals, vegetarian dishes and children's meals can be prepared on request. In addition, special catering options, picnics and snacks are available. The apartment hotel offers a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

    Misleading Advertisement: The Apartment Was in Terrible Condition

    Very disappointing experience at Dorisol Florasol Residence Hotel.The apartment we received was extremely old, outdated, and completely different from the renovated apartment shown in the booking photos. Most importantly, it did not include the balcony that was clearly part of the booking description and voucher.We specifically booked a renovated balcony apartment, but instead we were placed in an old apartment of a much lower standard. From outside the hotel it is clearly visible that most renovated apartments have balconies, yet the hotel still insisted that this was “a Transavia issue” and refused to take any responsibility.The bathroom conditions were also unacceptable. The bathtub/shower drain was blocked, causing water to accumulate while showering, which created both an unhygienic and dangerous situation.What was most shocking was the attitude of the hotel staff. Instead of apologizing or trying to properly solve the issue, they effectively preferred that we leave the hotel — which is ultimately what we had to do. At no point did the hotel apologize for the misleading advertisements and mismatch between the booked accommodation and the actual apartment provided.This completely ruined the beginning of our holiday experience.Would not recommend unless you are prepared to risk receiving an apartment very different from what is advertised.

    They treat you like cattle!!!! The hotel needs refurbishment and the staff needs training in customer service. Avoid them like the plague!!!!     This was our first stay in Madeira.We were very happy with our stay at your hotel. We had a 5th floor room. We are glad we did as we had a sea view. We would recommend requesting this floor or above if you want a sea view.The hotel was clean. Our room was light and airy. We did not expect anything “fancy” . Our room was cleaned daily. Our towels were lovely and soft. The fridge was full sized. There was washing up liquid, a brush and tea towel provided.We were half board. We were more than happy with our meals. I like fish, there was always a good choice of both fish and meat dishes.The staff were polite and friendly. Always smiling. Roger the manager is very professional. The senior restaurant staff in particular were excellent.We didn’t want somewhere with loud music all night. The hotel is just the right size for us. When you go for a meal there are like minded people to have a conversation with.The hotel is a 40 minute flat walk to the bus station and cable car in Funchal.You can get the bus 001 and 002 there for 2.5 euros. The hotel has lots of information on getting around.We did a free walking tour of the historical part of the Island,on our first full day( you pay what you think it is worth at the end of the tour). We also did a tour of the East and one of the West of the Island.We took the bus from the bus station to Monte Palace Gardens which were excellent.     Third time in Madeira and third different hotel. This was probably the worst of a good bunch but only due to the apparent lack of atmosphere. thankfully we were using it purely as a base and not to spend time socialising or drinking in the bar so it suited us just fine.Quick and easy check in. I was a bit disappointed at first to find we were on the third floor so not in the high rise but directly overlooking the busy road. However the room was spacious and airy with a large covered in balcony with table chairs and sofa. Great for people watching and the excellent glazing meant that we did not hear any noise through the night. Even when we sat on the balcony through the day, the sound of the passing traffic and general hub-bub wasn't an issue.Clean towels , clean sheets, amazingly powerful shower, full size fridge with freezer compartment in the kitchen area. Cannot complain. The beds were rock hard but we were so tired with all the walking and sightseeing that we amazingly slept like logs.Staff in the dining room were amazing. Your plate was taken away immediately. always greeted with a happy smile. Food was basic but plentiful, the usual, hot cooked eggs beans etc, cold meats and yogurts/cereals. Bought my own juice but its very rare you get nice juice wherever you stay. We kept our room as we had a late flight and paid 40E for four hours. The weather was pleasant, although rained for the flower parade and it was never really hot enough to lie around the pool. thankfully lying around the pool wasn't our main aim.Great location , next to some lovely restaurants like Goya and the Lido Grill.
