    We had made a reservation from May 14th to 17th - 2 suites - confirmed in January 2026 by Pedro Vasconcelos with an email from the reception and we were told 3 days before arrival that our reservation had been cancelled. This is not acceptable !

    Amazing Staff - Go that extra mile to help

    I was booked to stay here over my Birthday. Unfortunately plans changed and I was having difficulty getting a refund with Opodo.I contacted the Hostel directly and communicated with Christina who was very helpful, kind and understanding. Christina went that extra mile and on took on board my Health and as Opodo was very unhelpful, in the end she actually contacted themselves and informed them to cancel the booking.The service she provided was beyond my expectation and I would definitely stay at some point considering the outcome as the most important thing when staying at a Hostel is friendly and helpful staff and my experience indicates that this must be great Hostel.Thank you ever so much Christina, you really are a star.Neeta (",)

    Good place to stay in Funchal to discover Madeira

    I liked: Cleanliness on all the hostel areasHostel positioning The Friendliness of the stuff ready all the time to provide guidance and help related the touristic opportunities Madeira offers. Many thanks to the lady from the reception desk (Cary Bamdez) through those help in advising me and making reservations at various tours made my stay memorable in Madeira.

    I stayed at Santa Maria Hostel from the 7th of November till the 14th .It was amazing as I met incredible people,it was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful.The only downside for me which was my fault I got drunk on poncha one evening and left my bag on the floor and when I wake up my money was gone . Never the less I had a fabulous time and I shall indeed go back ,and not get drunk on poncha as didn’t realise how strong that stuff is .Great location and very convenient access to all places in Funchal .Highly recommended,

    Downstairs is restaurant, upstairs is hostel ,on Santa maria road,close distance to cable car as well as various other eateries here .i had good stay here.Staff were friendly and helpful . Good for those on budget.Kitchen facility if you want to cook too
