Location

The hotel is located in Pico Banda de Além, 1.5 km from the town of Ribeira Brava and its beach. Guests will find the island's Museu Etnografico just 1.5 km away, as well as the Igreja e Museu da Ribeira Brava and it is 15 km from Funchal. The hotel lies just 30 minutes from Funchal Airport.

Facility

Guests have a choice of 34 double rooms located in a 3-storey main building and an auxiliary building. English- and French-speaking staff at the reception are happy to assist guests at the reception desk round the clock. Check-in and check-out are available 24 hours a day. Services such as a cloakroom, a baggage storage service and a safe ensure a comfortable stay. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The hotel offers a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. A lift and wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. The grounds of the hotel feature a playground and a lovely garden. Catering options include bed and breakfast and half board. A generous breakfast buffet and a dinner à la carte are served every day. Diet meals, gluten-free meals, vegetarian dishes and children's meals can be prepared on request. In addition, special catering options and snacks are available.

    We stayed here 20-27 December. Our first time at Madeira and this hotel. Reading some of the reviews prior I was a little hesitant but this is what we thought. We a family of 3, age ranges 23 - 63.Location - beautiful, peaceful, relaxing, stunning views and a 15-20 min walk to Riberia Brava. Ideally need car to travel around although you can get a bus and if you do I recommend you get the rapidio one as it takes you the quickest route.Hotel- Bright, modern, rooms were very clean, comfy beds, lovely hot shower and both rooms had the wonderful views of the ocean. Air con worked well and slept like a log, didn’t hear any noises.Food- we were half board, breakfast great variety, cooked breakfast, cereals, yogurts, fruits, croissants, cheese, ham and so on. Evening meal again fantastic variety and hot dishes were hot, we couldn’t fault it.Staff - ALL staff were welcoming and friendly especially Vera and her brother and parents on reception and Fatima in the restaurant along with their colleagues. The cleaning maids were also pleasant and always seemed to be cleaning. I think reading some previous reviews it may have been the difference in different languages that may have caused misunderstandings but for us again couldn’t fault anyone!Facilities- indoor pool was lovely, we did use the gym, outdoor pool looked lovely but we didn’t use it during our stay. There is a games room with pool table, table tennis and board games. If I had to make any criticism or recommendations it would be to update the tennis bats and the tips on the snooker Q’s.This is a family run hotel and credit to them. I got tearful to leave so will be returning. Thank you from the Graves Family x

    Very nice hotel with clean rooms, good breakfast and friendly staff.Sometimes the warm dishes of the breakfast could be hotter.Good on-site parking and a nice view to the ocean.

    The hotel was nice and clean. The place was peaceful. The views were awesome. The staff was very friendly.A rental car was necessary because the hotel is located on a mountainside.

    Definitely not 4*, more like 3* and we found a real lack of attention to detail. No tea apart from herbal, and coffee not always replenished in the room. Only one sachet on arrival. No UHT milk. The hairdryer was like a hoover extension fitted to the wall. Lots of reviews about friendliness and attentiveness of staff, but certainly was not our experience. We were the only English in the hotel. Mainly French and German. The food was very average, limited, and certainly not worthy of a 4* hotel. On our last day, the breakfast was cold. Limited fruit, no jams (some kind of coulis). Coffee machine not available at dinner. Drinks expensive, and wine very disappointing. Recommend going to Cammarata Bar or the bar just up the road. Very friendly, good atmosphere and cheaper than the hotel. No atmosphere in the hotel bar and very quiet. No entertainment but maybe as end of season. On the positive side, the room was lovely and view amazing. It was clean, beds made and towels changed daily. The pool area was very nice. You need a car to explore if you stay here although the Rodoeste bus via rapide was only 25 minutes journey to Funchal and only 2 euro 60. However at weekends very limited service. Nice walk down to Riveira Brava and its actually not that bad walking back up - a 20 minute walk uphill if you are relatively fit. Taxi will cost 6 to 8 euros.
