Location

This hotel is located in the heart of the Laurissilva Forest, which has been recognised by UNESCO as a natural world heritage site. It is situated on one of the most beautiful slopes of the Ribeira Brava valley, at an altitude of 950 metres. This area finds favour for the beauty of its green landscape and its accessibility to walks along the typical levadas, which carry water to irrigate agricultural land and connect to other tourist attractions on the island. Guests will be able to enjoy a tranquil holiday close to nature in maximum comfort. The hotel is roughly 8 km from the town of Ribeira Brava and 42 km from Madeira International Airport.

Facility

49 double rooms are available. The friendly staff at the reception desk in the lobby are happy to answer any questions. The hotel provides a safe, a TV room, a babysitting service, 24-hour room service, a laundry service and a conference room. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas.     Horrible hotel. Horrible experience. Truly a horrible horrible hotel. Hair all over the floor on check-in. Worms (plural) in the room. Musty smell in dark, outdated, and cramped rooms. The food was mediocre at best. I get they’re the only game in town for those walking the trails, but avoid if possible. I’ve stayed in guest houses in third world countries that tried harder to be hospitable and cleaner with what they have. There’s no excuse for this hotel to be this bad given their resources. Just an absolutely horrible hotel.

    We had a really lovely stay at this hotel . We were in beautiful Madeira for the incredible walks and the countryside and this hotel is set in the most amazing scenery - a perfect location if you want to be away from the crowds and are looking to experience this breathtaking island. The staff are great - really friendly and helpful - big shout out to Daniel on reception who went above and beyond to be as helpful as possible!Breakfast and supper are a buffet with a really good range of salads, soup and cooked food - my only criticism as a vegetarian is that they should clearly label the food as I had a couple of near misses with the salads . . Rooms are super clean and comfy, with a balcony with the most outstanding views. Some reviews have talked about the noises from other guests rooms but we heard nothing at all . There is a suite for weddings but they do warn you at reception about this and there was a wedding here while we stayed but it was not all noisy.The only downside is that the bar inexplicably closes at 6.30pm, when you are returning from a brilliant day out and fancy a beer . . I wish they could amend this!! But all in all, the best place to stay on this incredible island as you are located within reach of a lot of great walks.

    Stunning Views & Perfect for Rali da Madeira

    We stayed at Valley View Hotel, Encumeada, for one night during the Rali da Madeira (Rosário stage) and it was ideal. The hotel has breathtaking mountain views, spacious rooms with comfy beds, and a great rally atmosphere – we could watch the cars right from the hotel!The bar was open all day, the buffet lunch was excellent, and the small à la carte dinner menu was much better than the buffet. Friendly staff and a relaxed 12:00 checkout made our stay even better.A perfect base for rally fans or anyone wanting a peaceful mountain escape.

    Back to my 'home' on Madeira 800 metres high in the mountains ... Made very welcome by all the staff by name (as usual). There has been much refurbishment of publc ares mirroring the lush greenery of the surrounding hills. The sun shone for the entire fortnight. Clouds flowing over the mountains can be spectacular. It was quiet at the weekends this time .. no wedding parties. The self service buffet gave a good choice. The salads were very good. The short, a la carte menu is 'work-in- hand' and was freshly made to order. Helpings were large. My reservatioon for next year was made before I left.

    Walking holiday hotel

    We stayed here for just the one night on our walking holiday. What a stunning location. Our dinner was included and what an absolutely fabulous buffet selection. We sat on the terrace in the evening. Our rooms had balcony's and the beds were very comfy. Again a great breakfast selection.
