    We had a lovely time at the Madeira Regency Cliff hotel. The location is great - minutes from the ocean-side promenade, the bus stop to downtown, and the Forum Madeira Shopping Mall with nice stores and a big Pingo Doce grocery store. The views from the breakfast patio are breath-taking, and the breakfast buffet was varied and fresh. We highly recommend this hotel!

    We visited on a Jet2 break Monday- Friday and had a lovely time. This was our 2nd visit to the hotel, the previous visit was in 2019.We had a well appointed room on the third floor with a balcony looking towards Funchal. We loved watching the cruise ships entering and leaving the harbour from the balcony. We had dressing gowns, slippers and coffee making facilities too.The hotel put some fruit and complementary water in our room as a thank-you for being a returning customer, which was a lovely touch. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast here, which you can eat on the terrace in good weather. There was some great hot and cold options, including tasty pastries.The hotel is in a good location, close to some great coastal walking paths, and with some nice cafes/restaurants nearby. There is a free shuttle bus into Funchal, and we pre-booked a return trip one day of our stay. This was a great bonus and we found the service to be very reliable.The only negative for us was that the hotel bar was very quiet on an evening, once the dinner service was done, so we preferred to go to a nearby hotel (Alto Lido) where there was some entertainment every evening. Overall, we had a fabulous time here and would definitely recommend.

    We came here with Jet2 just Monday to Friday Hotel spotless and the side balcony room was huge with the comfiest bed we've ever slept in hotel wise We were half board and the breakfast suited everyone His nibs likes an English cooked I love fruit and cereals with a cheeky pastry because I'm on my hols! Half board option was great as M is gluten intolerant and staff were very helpful All freshly cooked and a great variety of choices The plunge pools were clean and the garden leading out from the restaurant was perfect for late afternoon rays The Funchal bus stops outside 2€ into town plus we hired a car for a day Hope to see you next year to explore the places we didn't get time for Many thanks to you all

    Well good and a bit bad I am afraid.We first stayed here in 2005 when it was newly opened and going back was like a step back in time.Good points1. Great location - it's across the road from the Forum shopping mall, which is great for shops including a supermarket in the basement.2. They offer a free courtesy bus into Funchal but ... see below3. Place is clean with lovely terrace and mini garden overlooking the sea but furnishings are slightly dated and worn including exterior where plaster is peeling4. Food ok, buffet style but can be pricey if you are on half board package and fancy lunch. Suggest eating in supermarket cafe across the road. Food excellent and very reasonable. Downsides1. Despite booking a return trip with courtesy bus it never showed up! We waited in the heat for it to appear and when I rang hotel, got told it was cancelled but no call, reason or apology as to why. Ended up having to get cash out of ATM to hire a taxi.2. We had booked taxis to and from the airport, with all costs put on our room bill. When we went outside for return to airport there was the courtesy bus! So we paid 39 Euros when we should have had it for free. Not impressed!3. While we were staying at hotel a group turned up. No issues with that but after dinner they could make use of tea/coffee facilities. When we tried to get a drink we were told off by staff and informed we had to buy ours,. We responded by buying our own tea and using facilities in room.4 Finally, piece de resistance! We had a small brown 6 legged insect pay us a visit in the bathroom (cockroach). Apparently they wander in from indoor pool next door and as our room was right next door ... suggest you ask for a room on higher floor to avoid this.The receptionist did deal with it and it didn't reappear but ..So overall, I would give the hotel 3 stars.
