  Just returned from a very comfortable week staying at The Raga. Beds very comfy, rooms are generally larger than average hotel. Staff polite and helpful. Excellent location - all the shops, Spar, PingoDolce, and lots of restaurants on the doorstep. Short picturesque stroll into Funchal central . Cleaning was ok - you need to remember this hotel is a little older.   Great gem of a hotel

  I have just returned from a weekend away at this hotel in Madeira, I travelled with my friend and we were highly impressed. The location of the hotel is fantastic, quick walk to the lido, lots of restaurants nearby and also the supermarket is a 2 min walk away. There is a bus stop right by the hotel which will take you into the centre of Funchal, you need bus 1,2 or 4..There is also a taxi rank close by should you not want to get the bus. The bus only cost 2 euros each way(payable in cash only) The hotel receptionist was fantastic, very friendly and ever so helpful...we also found the waiter/pool bar man Muhammed to be amazing he was very friendly and nothing was to much trouble. The staff at this hotel in general were lovely and this really made the stay so nice. There are 2 ways in and out of the hotel the first way is by coming out of reception and up the hill then turn right and this will take you to some really lovely restaurants or you can go down to the pool and out the back via a few little steps, this then takes you out by a restaurant and to where the bus stop/taxi ranks are...lots of places to eat here to and you would go this way if wanting to visit the lido The hotel has a luggage storage room so even if you arrive before check-in they have somewhere to store suitcases so you can go off and explore the local area just like we did. I noticed the hotel also had a booknook for people to leave old books behind which a great idea and I always love to see this when I go somewhere The whole hotel was very clean and our room was fantastic it is deffo worth booking a seaview room as it was a delight to wake up to this view every morning, Was lovely to sit out on the balcony in the morning and see the sea and the cruise ships coming into the Island.. The maid who cleaned the room did a great job and it was always nice and tidy when we came back. The hotel has 2 lifts so no walking up and down lots of stairs Madeira as a whole is very hilly so would not recommend for anyone with walking difficulties - we knew this already and didn't mind the hills Food and drink at the hotel is very reasonably priced and we often bought drinks here along with a little snack in the day. We stayed bed & breakfast and found a good selection of food available from hot food, cereal, pastries and yogurts. They have drinks machines for the hot drinks and a nice selection of juicesWe also ate in the hotel on the our last evening (international night) and the food was delicious again a very good selection all hot and plenty of it. They have a different theme night every evening and post the menu in the lifts that day so you can see what is available. If you are a smoker the hotel also has a cigarette vending machine which takes cash.   Lovely Comfortable Hotel

  This is a lovely if a little dated hotel but our price reflected this. Seaview room, v comfortable bed, simple bathroom and tv with english chanels. Clean, yes it could do with a spruce up but not overly so. Breakfast was top notch, always hot food with great choices and cold meats/cheese in abundance.loads of places to eat drink within a few mins walk and great supermarket down the road.recomended and would stay again.   The location is excellent, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the ocean views are beautiful. Breakfast was varied and fresh, and the pool area was very relaxing.What made our stay truly special was how the hotel accommodated our request to decorate the room for our son’s 9th birthday. The surprise was beautifully arranged and meant so much to our family.A special thank you to Vanessa at reception for her sustained effort and dedication in making everything perfect.   Lack of customer support from hotel in extraordinary circumstances

  Replying to Hotel Owner's response to my earlier post -Sir/ma'm,It is not correct to mention that i have not reached out to your customer support team. from the time, i have received a message on my flight cancellation due to bad weather in Funchal, on 13th morning, i have immediately been in touch with your hotel customer support team multiple times via both email and on phone. Only response i have received is that hotel will not entertain any request for refund or date change. if needed, I'm happy to forward all the emails to you. My email exchanges was via the email ID - Reservations.cc2@muthuhotelsmgm.com. this email was given by your support team on the call. I have multiple times contacted your customer support team via phone as well. My email exchanges were till yesterday (16th Dec). i have forwarded the evidences of flight cancellation due to bad weather with your teams. i had requested to escalate to supervisors as well in the call, but, my request was declined.Appreciate, if you can help me by considering the situation and support me in refunding my hard earned money or possibly for a date change. It'll be really helpful to me.Looking for your positive response. Unfortunately our flights were cancelled due to bad weather in Funchal. As there are no alternative flights over the weekend, i had to cancel my trip. I had requested the hotel team multiple times to help me with either the refund or amendments to dates, so that i can rebook the vacation for another time. But, there has been no positive response till date. its very sad to lose your hard earned money, hotel team needs to give the benefit of the situation or circumstances under which the trip could not be progressed. The email you refer is the reservations one that on one hand do not handle these situations and furthermore, are not even at the hotel - that is a reservations centre and they will comply with the reservations and as Indeed as per your emails, all were replied correctly. As per ALL others that have contacted the hotel, all have been dealt with - either to contact their agency or in the case of direct bookings we have handled them. In your case, you have to contact your reservations provider. We are sorry your flight was cancelled but this is not of our concern. So, we are really very greatfull for your kind reviews and postings.
