Location

Located on a hill, this hotel offers a stunning view over Funchal's harbour. The architecturally extraordinary complex houses, not just the hotel, but also the conference centre as well as Madeira's casino. Countless shops, bars, restaurants and nightclubs are to be found in the centre of Funchal (within 500 m), as are links to the transport network (50 m away). The nearest beach is 5 km away and Funchal airport is roughly 23 km away.

Facility

The hotel welcomes guests in a 5-storey building with a lift and 379 rooms. English-speaking staff at the reception are happy to assist guests at the reception desk round the clock. Check-in and check-out are available 24 hours a day. Amenities available at the hotel include a safe and a currency exchange service. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. At lunch and dinner, guests can choose between a buffet, à la carte and a set menu. Special meals, including diet meals, are also available. The hotel also offers special catering options.

    A lovely stay in Central Funchal

    Great location. We booked a suite and so pleased we did. Spacious, lounge area with a balcony, bedroom also with a balcony. Huge bathroom with corner bath and with a separate walk in shower. Bedding turned down each evening with chocolates. Hotel gardens lovely directly overlooking the ocean. Lovely dining room which also overlooked the ocean. Don't hesitate book this hotel. Only fault we encountered was one out of 3 lifts was not working for almost the entire week which was a shame. My partner had a mobility scooter so we had to use the lifts.     Disappointing overrated

    Very disappointed. Have stayed in this hotel in the past, albeit 20 years ago. Absolutely no change to the tired run down room. Toilet , shower room was very poor with a door which looked as if it’d been rescued from a skip. Breakfast okay, dinner poor and always lukewarm to cold. Had a meal at the bar before a late departure. It was a € 53 hastily thrown together lukewarm disgrace. Can’t understand the positive reviews but each to their own I suppose.     Enjoyed but can be improved

    Hotel is a massive space and the staff are very friendly and attentive, however the housekeeping staff are very slow in cleaning the rooms, twice in one day I had to ask for the room to be cleaned as they passed it by twice and I had the tag on the door,we were out sightseeing since 8am and having returned at 4pm it still had not been done,dinner in the evening was definitely not worth the amount paid and was liking to food from a cafeteria, some cold and looked thrown together, the menu read a lot better than the actual food, Cristina Freitas, Serviços ao cliente/atendimento at Pestana Casino Park, responded to this review Dear PJ p,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.     Pleasant Stay

    This huge white complex towers above the Funchal Harbor and is visible from many viewpoints in the city. The bustling Rua Imperatriz Dona Amelia, with its many restaurants is at the bottom of the driveway and the old town is some 15 minutes walk away, downhill.We found the buses generally worked well till about early evening. After 9pm catching one was rather haphazard. Make sure you have exact change (€2.05 per person) as drivers are rather finicky.The hotel has three swimming pools: one on top of the building, one outside and an indoor one. Noise wasn’t any problem throughout our stay.The interior was rather dated which is not surprising since the hotel was built in 1976. There are lots of huge, empty spaces on each floor. There are only three lifts for the whole hotel though we didn’t find it a problem, out of season.Our top-floor sea-facing suite was very spacious, with both the lounge and bedroom having their own balcony. There was plenty of seating space and storage. Safety box was hidden in the wardrobe. Beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was large, with His and Hers sinks. Bathrobes and slippers were provided.Tea and coffee facilities were provided. Bottled water was replenished daily.Wi-Fi signal was good. TV offered a few English-speaking stations.The breakfast was just excellent: great choice, quality and availability of seating.With the huge choice of restaurants on the doorstep we didn’t try the dinner at the hotel though, judging by quality of the breakfast, it was probably very good.You could get great reduction (up to 70%) on your trips by attending a timeshare presentation (1.5 hours, includes some refreshments). Enquire at the kiosk at the entrance to the hotel, by the main street.An excellent hotel for the average budget.
