Location

This hotel occupies a cliff top location in Funchal and enjoys fabulous views out over the Atlantic. It is some 4 km to the lively resort centre (hotel shuttle bus service inclusive). A diverse range of shopping venues, restaurants, bars and nightclubs as well as links to the public transport network are to be found in the near vicinity (50 m -1 km away).

Facility

Guests have a choice of 95 suites and 115 double rooms located in an 8-storey main building and a 7-storey auxiliary building. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Amenities include a baggage storage service, a safe and a currency exchange service. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. A lift and wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. There are a number of shops as well. The grounds of the hotel feature a playground and a lovely garden. Additional amenities include a newspaper stand, a TV room and a playroom. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage (for a fee) or in the car park (for a fee). Further services and facilities include a babysitting service (for a fee), a childcare service, a transfer service, room service and a laundry service. A bicycle hire service gives guests the opportunity to explore the surrounding area independently. The business centre is on hand for guests' business requirements and provides a projector.

Rooms

Air conditioning and central heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. Guests can enjoy the sea view from a balcony or terrace. Rooms have a double bed or a king-size bed. Children's beds can be requested for younger guests. A safe and a minibar are also available. Guests will also find a tea/coffee station included among the standard features. An ironing set is provided for guests' convenience. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. Cleaning on departure is among the services offered. A hairdryer and a telephone are available in the bathrooms, which are equipped with a shower and a bathtub. Wheelchair-friendly rooms can be booked. The hotel has 210 non-smoking rooms.

Sport

While the adults swim a few laps in the outdoor pool, children can enjoy splashing about in their own swimming area. Guests can treat themselves to refreshing drinks at the poolside snack bar and a relaxing soak in the hot tub. A short break or an entire afternoon on the sun terrace, which features sun loungers and parasols, is time well spent. Those who wish to stay active while on holiday can enjoy on-site fishing. For a fee, tennis is also available. Water sports available at the hotel include windsurfing, canoeing, catamaraning, kayaking, snorkelling and diving. Sport and leisure facilities at the hotel include a gym and billiards. There is a wellness area with a range of services, including a spa, a sauna and a steam bath. In addition, a beauty salon and massage treatments are available for a fee. Guests of all ages have the opportunity to enjoy a fun entertainment programme.

Meals

Dining facilities include a restaurant (with high chairs), a café and a bar. Catering options include half board, full board and all-inclusive. A generous breakfast buffet guarantees a great start to the day. Lunch is served as a set menu, and guests can choose between a buffet, à la carte and a set menu for dinner. Special culinary options, such as diet meals, are also available. In addition, special catering options and snacks are available. The hotel offers a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

    Currently staying here and love the hotel but picked it based on there being an adults only pool. There are several children in the pool everyday which is annoying given the main pool is not even that busy. I tried telling the pool attendants but they just asked the kids not to be rowdy.     We stayed here for 2 nights.The hotel is very dated.The rooms were spacious but dated.We had bugs in our room.we asked to be moved to another room,but were told the room would be cleaned instead.However the bugs returned!The food was adequate.The drinks choice was good.The staff were fantastic in the restaurant and bar.The hotel has alot of potential but unfortunately is in need of renovation.I wouldnt stay here again.     A stay to remember

    A stay to rememberFirst of all, the room was beautiful. We had a gorgeous view, we were close to the pools, it was spacious and comfortable. The buffet was good, with lots of options and the restauration staff especially was super professional and friendly. I want to specifically mention Rosan, who was so caring and attentive, Keshav and Florentina. At the front desk, Henrique was always cheerful and friendly, and everyone else was warm and just great in general. Margarida was a pleasure to talk to as well. Unfortunately our check-in was depressing and cold with the first receptionist, but every interaction afterwards with everyone else was very pleasant. The indoor (heated!) pool was GREAT, my favorite thing to do there when we had time to go. And for some reason the whole week we were there, the climate at the hotel was just wonderful, no matter how it was on the rest of the island. It must be blessed by the weather gods !Lastly I’ll mention that there was some lack of attention to detail in the room. There was a lot of accumulated dust in some areas that are sometimes missed during regular cleaning, indicating to me that the room had not been inspected in depth for a while. Despite that, the housekeeping staff was diligent and sweet and our room was serviced well and comfortable all week. Thank you for a memorable and relaxing stay !
