  Although old it is keep in reasonable condition room basic with modern TV the bathroom is in need of upgrading must be difficult to clean properly.has a balcony and safe we where disturbed by next door building at night.breakfast continental fresh good, reception always pleasant and polite, value for money,close to Funchal town.

  Basic ,dated ,functional . As reflected in price.Room good size. Firm beds . Bathroom with bath and removable showerhead. Towels a bit stiff .Reception manned 24 hrs. Cleaners efficient. (gave me extra blanket)Breakfast also very basic ,but I added hot milk into the oats, topped with dried apricots (I bought) and became better!Location good for old town but over a supermarket that has deliveries starting at 7am.Noisy road. Had plane not been delayed resulting in arriving well after dark, I would have realised that the rooms to rear have balconies, ,face the sun ,so warmer, and not over the supermarket loading bay or road.It was so quiet on New Years Eve and New Years day though.WiFi on 1st floor onlyMajor downside. No smoking room First two nights stale smoke leaking from nearby room or funnelling up from outside reception (Third floor room) Other 3 nights ok. Last morning stale smoke in breakfast room ,emanating from adjacent bar area. Only for that reason I would not stay there again

  The residecial greco hotel was very basic. I stayed in room 405 I found lots of ants in there The shower was rusty and the base of it was stained. The rooms are big and bright but full of broken old odd bits of furniture . The hair dryer never worked or the phone in the room. On arrival to my room I noticed the patio windows were filthy lots of hand prints so clearly not cleaned after last guest. I am a female solo traveller and I did feel abit uneasy in this hotel first couple of nights The balcony door did not lock which I felt anxious about . The breakfast well my advise is to opt out as super market underneath with cafe tou can get fresh pastries and hot drinks there. The breakfast served here is far by the worst I've had no choice really no toaster so it was a small selection of breads jams and cheese and ham Apple bananas jelly and cereal it really was not good hot tea and coffee and the juice is cordial I only went down the once it was that bad and it was empty I think other guests felt the same .The reception staff where all friendly and helpful when I asked them various things about getting to placesLocation is great very central

  Very good place, i’ve been there 3 nights and i felt very comfortable, (unexpected, looking at most of reviews), All i’m saying especially considering the price, very low.Kind staff.Only “bad” thing is the breakfast, few things to eat and not very good quality.

  Amazing place and an excellent value for money

  My daughter and I spent an amazing week in Madeira and at the Greco hotel. The hotel is located right in the centre of Funchal, next to a Continente supermarket - very handy. About 10 min on foot from the Promenade, the beach and the bus stops. Our room was huge, spotlessly clean, quiet, with comfy beds and comfy bathroom. The breakfast was sufficient, with amazing coffee. The hotel boasts a really pleasant roof terrace - perfect for stargazing or just relaxing in the evening. A massive credit goes to the Staff - all very friendly, very helpful, always smiling and polite. I think this hotel has become our favourite in the Sé area of Funchal and we will definitely be back.
