This hotel enjoys a spectacular location in Funchal Bay, directly beside the Atlantic Ocean. A supermarket, diverse shops, a bar and restaurants are to be found close to the hotel and the sea is also just a few minutes walk away. The city centre lies1 km away and there is a stop for the public transport service is approximately 50 m from the hotel.

Facility

174 suites are located on 10 storeys and can be reached by 6 lifts. The multilingual staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Amenities include a baggage storage service and a safe. Wireless internet access (no extra charge) is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The apartment hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities. A number of shops, including a supermarket, are great for shopping or just browsing. The grounds of the hotel feature a playground and a lovely garden. Additional amenities include a newspaper stand, a TV room, a playroom and a library. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park. Rooms

The pool complex, which includes 3 heated saltwater and freshwater pools and a children's area, ensures great swimming. In warm weather, a dip in the outdoor pool is always worth it, while the indoor pool is the perfect place to spend a grey day.     It had been over 20 years since I last visited Royal Savoy, and it remains just as outstanding as I remembered. We came for our honeymoon and were immediately welcomed by Miguel, the friendliest doorman with the biggest smile, who clearly adores his job and sets the tone from the moment you arrive.We stayed in room 1607, which featured a huge balcony and was beautifully furnished in the classic Royal Savoy luxury style. Housekeeping attends daily and manages to be impeccably thorough without ever being intrusive. Even for late risers, the room is quietly refreshed once you head out.Every member of staff is warm, polite and attentive without ever feeling overbearing. The resort itself is stunning, with immaculately maintained plants throughout, comfortable seating areas and elegant, high end furnishings. The pool area is spacious and thoughtfully designed, offering something for everyone. Whether you prefer poolside or seaside, there are always loungers available with plenty of space, and with two large pools plus direct sea access, it never feels crowded.The food is absolutely delicious, fresh, varied and consistently excellent across the different bars and restaurants. The picanha steak sandwich deserves special mention and is quite simply the best sandwich I have ever eaten. My husband and I shared four during our week because we could not resist. The sangria is always spot on, but if you are lucky enough to have Bruno make one, you are in for a treat. His version, with its cinnamon and mint twist, is pure joy in a glass.Thatchers Bar is a beautiful new addition, offering gorgeous views alongside the familiar friendly face of Gilberto. Even after so many years of service, he remains just as welcoming, professional and genuinely lovely as ever. Carlos on reception also deserves special praise. He went above and beyond with helpful tips, recommendations and warm conversations when we returned from evenings out. Truly exceptional service.The only aspect that slightly lets the resort down is the evening entertainment. While I understand the clientele tends to be older, it did not seem to suit them either, and we found it rather drab and dated. We much preferred enjoying live music at nearby bars or strolling into Funchal instead. That said, the location of the resort is excellent. There is an abundance of dining and drinking options just moments away, yet once inside the hotel it feels like a secluded paradise. Our room was always peaceful, with no noise from outside.Thank you to everyone for giving us the most perfect honeymoon. The Royal Savoy will forever hold a very special place in our hearts.Obrigado a todos por nos proporcionarem a lua de mel mais perfeita.     We previously stayed at the Savoy Palace which was terrific. The Royal Savoy is much smaller but has a lovely calming atmosphere.     A fantastic hotel in every respect. Great room with excellent facilities. Amazing staff in all areas. Food in both restaurants, pool side and roof terrace excellent. One of the best hotels for outside pool area with sunbeds in various locations giving quiet areas to sit. Lovely indoor pool, sauna and steamroom. SPA treatment was first class.     Fine but needs improvement to qualify as a 5 star hotel.

    Good & helpful staff. Good grounds & facilities but the hotel needs refurbishment & improvements in room cleanliness & the quality of the hot buffet breakfast in order to justify a 5 Star rating. In addition one lift was totally out of action, with no explanation as to the problem, for the whole of our 10 night stay in a Junior Suite with sea view.     Wonderful hotel

    Everything about the hotel was wonderful. Our room was immaculately clean every day and the bed was very comfortable. The view from the balcony was fabulous, 180 degrees, overlooking the sea, gardens and pool area. So lovely to sit there and relax. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic, especially the breakfasts and the buffet nights. All the pools were so clean. It was the end of April, so it was so good to have a heated outdoor pool to use. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will book there again when we return to Madeira.
