Delightful hotel with serene setting and amazing breakfast

We had a lovely time at this delightful, quiet hotel, with views of the lush valley and pretty village, a good-sized indoor swimming pool, and a fantastic, mostly homemade or home-grown breakfast. The staff are friendly and professional, the rooms large and well decorated, and everything immaculately clean. The only downside of the serene location is that you will need a car to drive to dinner in the evenings, but it's a fair trade-off and only a few minutes' drive to Sao Vicente, the coast, a levada walk, and more. Solar da bica is the best!!! Peaceful and relaxing environment. Great attention to detail and pride in everything having to do with the property. Excellent breakfast, pool and grounds. Perfect, if only ...

Would be perfect, if property would offer dinner option. They have a lovely dining area and provide a sumptuous breakfast, so they could and it would hugely improve the quality of the stay. We found driving to the hotel in the dark and the rain to be very stressful so only did it once. Other nights, we had to pick up a pizza in town in the afternoon and bring it back for dinner. Heaven is a place on earth.

This has to be one of the best places I have ever stayed. The room was comfortable. Breakfast amazing . Beautiful location. Owners and staff are wonderful. Hire a car and use this as a base to visit the other must see locations on the north coast. It’s about an hour from the airport. I highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again. Exceptional! Location, view, service, breakfast all were excellent. Homemade yogurt with a nice selection of toppings. Loved the rooster and chickens and the neighbourhood dogs.
