  “A deeply disappointing and unsettling stay – would not recommend”I don’t normally write negative reviews, but I feel it’s important to share my experience. Sadly, my stay at Almada Wine House was extremely disappointing and has left me feeling uncomfortable and let down.Firstly, the persistent sewer smell in the room and throughout the property was overwhelming. It tainted the experience from the moment I arrived and was present in multiple areas – not something you expect when booking a quality stay.Even more upsetting was the issue of missing and tampered-with personal belongings. After housekeeping cleaned my room, I noticed that a brand new £97 perfume I purchased at duty free had gone missing. This alone was upsetting, but upon closer inspection I discovered that my makeup, face cream, and nearly full 200ml hairspray had clearly been used – despite the fact I had barely touched them myself.Additionally, coffee pods were not replenished after cleaning, which is a basic service one expects in this kind of accommodation.The worst part is the complete lack of trust I now feel. I’ve had to start packing my belongings every night, just to feel some sense of security in the room. No one should feel anxious about leaving their possessions in a place they’ve paid to stay in.Having personal items used or taken is not just careless – it’s invasive, and frankly, it’s theft. This experience has left a bitter taste, and I would urge management to take guest privacy and security far more seriously.Unfortunately, I would not return and cannot recommend this place based on what I’ve experienced.

  I booked a room at Almada Wine House expecting a king-size bed and a living room area with a sofa — just like advertised. Instead, I received a room with two king-size beds and no sofa.When I asked about it, I was told the bed in my original room was broken, and they promised to move me the next day.The next day? Nobody was at the reception. All day. No follow-up. No solution. No service.Unfortunately, this was not the only problem: • Internet kept disconnecting constantly. • The next door building is under construction — loud noise from morning till afternoon. • Housekeeping come every secound day. • The safe was broken. • The shower head made loud, strange noises. • No real service experience — you feel alone in the hotel.

  An appalling apartment hotel with no management on site in the evenings leaving one to fend on themeslves.

  We chose it for peace and quiet. Instead we got two sleeples nights while some young party goers from another country stomped on the floor, moved beds around that rattled the entire floor and partied into the early hours. On the first night went up to them and asked them to stop the noise as we were tryingto sleep in the floor below. They said they would but they did not and we only went to sleep exhausted at 1:30am. The next night at 2am I did call the night manager who said he would take time to travel to the place which has no reception in the evenings (which we did not know about). It was only about 2:30am that he arrived and seemed to have finally warned the young people to stop their noise. We informed the managment that we hardly slept a full night sleep for two nights and got just a brief apology. We were also informed that the management did not have the email of the partygoers as their booking had been done through a third party. So we were in a highly prized place where there is no management and no immediate way to assist if the noise becomes intolerable but we have to wait until someone from elsewhere in town turns up to stop the noise. We would advise to avoid this place as it is potentially a place where one can be trapped without any instant assistance.

  Beware - WATER DAMAGE and MOLD!

  Let me start with the positive: the staff were very helpful, the location was convenient to the historic areas of the city, and the rooms were large with nice small kitchenettes. The negative -- mold in the bathrooms and water damage on the ceilings -- has affected my family's health. Previous guests had complained about the mold and water damage in the rooms where we stayed, and we were informed the rooms were scheduled to be closed the following week for maintenance, but unfortunately the hotel did not take the toxic rooms out of service immediately. Our family is extremely sensitive to mold and bacteria, so this lapse in judgement by continuing to rent mold-filled rooms has now created ongoing health repercussions for several family members.

  Stayed for 2 nights with my son and husband. Room was spacious, well equipped and clean. Very good location; easy walking distance to major attractions. A huge thank you to the young lady on reception, who was so helpful on arrival, with providing maps and info of Porto. Highly recommend.
