    Nice modern hotel

    rating03 Oct 2025

This was our 3 Axis hotel in 3 nights and probably the best. It is quite modern and we had a lovely bedroom with very large bathroom. Breakfast was good and location is a little out of main town but had a supermarket near by and some nice restaurants. Our friends used the spa facilities and enjoyed their massages.

    Nice hotel with pool

    rating25 Jul 2025

We stayed in this hotel for two nights. The rooms are big and clean. We were on the 5th floor. The staff is friendly and free parking is right in front. We also used the outdoor pool. All very nice and perfect to relax after a busy day. The food in the restaurant is tasty and not overpriced.

Superb staff in an stressful situation who went above and beyond!!

    rating04 Jul 2025

I cannot praise highly enough the assistance I received from Marina and Susana, who were working the night of June 16th during my stay. I was walking the Camino from Porto to Santiago, and upon arriving at the hotel, I noticed that my toe was bleeding quite badly and wouldn’t stop.I had hired a company, GaliWonders, to transport my bags, book my accommodations, and provide 24/7 emergency support—but unfortunately, their help was nonexistent when I needed it most. When I called their emergency line, the only advice they gave me was to "ask the hotel reception."Thankfully, that's when Marina stepped in. Despite being busy, she immediately began searching for a local clinic or pharmacy that could help me. She made phone calls on my behalf and was so genuinely concerned that at one point she even said, “Maybe I’ll call my mom—she might know somewhere.” Her kindness and determination were truly heartwarming.Eventually, Marina found a private hospital just 250 metres away. I went there right away, and for just 70 euros, my foot was cleaned, treated, and bandaged. I’ll never forget the Portuguese doctor’s advice: “No walking tomorrow—sit at a café and drink red wine.” Of course I followed his advice. Both Marina and Susana went above and beyond that evening. Their compassion and willingness to help made all the difference in a stressful moment. They are true professionals with kind hearts, and I’m incredibly grateful for their help. The hotel itself was comfortable, especially the beds. The room was spotless and the buffet breakfast had a fabulous choice to choose from.I had a manicure in the spa and it was lovely.I did have two complainants that I spoke to the manager about. Having long hair and being limited to a specific weight in my suitcase I did not bring any shampoo or conditioner. Every four star hotel I have ever stayed at provides this or at least has it available at the front desk. Using the same "soap" for hair and body just doesn't work for hair below your shoulders. Also, after walking all day I was looking forward to a nice hot bath - the bathtub was there but no plug. Some environmental policy to save water and plastic. The hotel needs to have these things available for female customers. Men don't need it but we do. BTW - this is the case for all hotels, except the Paradors in Spain- they had conditioner. Next thing you know the hotels will want us to bring our own towels!!But, let me reiterate the purpose of my review - Marina and Susana - thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me that night. You both went above and beyond and your efforts were and are truly appreciated. I hope you both have a long and successful career in the hospitality field. The hot gentleman with the stunning blue eyes who was on the desk the morning I checked out gave me a great recommendation in Ancorra in which to sit and drink wine - thank you - the bar/cafe OCEANS was a perfect place to people watch and sip wine.

    Amazing hotel, avoid the gym

    rating02 Jan 2025

I stayed at the hotel for a total of 12 days with my parents and my 21 year old twin brother during the Christmas and new year period. We came from the uk. The hotel was super clean with all the hotel staff and cleaners being super friendly. The restaurant staff were always smiling and very welcoming. The restaurant food was amazing with lots of selections for breakfast and different food options for dinner. The desserts weren’t great but that’s probably subjective to my taste. The beds were super comfy and they put out food on the days that they weren’t doing dinner for the hotel guests in the lobby area (Christmas Eve and Christmas Day) and they gave us chocolate and a bottle of champagne on New Year’s Day! I am an experienced powerlifter competing at a very high international/ national level. When I found out that there was a gym I was so happy as I was originally going to pay to go to a gym as I prepare for national championships. The first gym supervisor was suprised by my strength but he was quite accommodating. The guy on the 2nd and third day, danilo was super rude and started arguing with me telling me that I wasn’t controlling my deadlifts and making too much noise (suprise suprise, I’m in a gym 😭) even though I controlled it so much so that I barely made noise and my hand ripped from thr grip on the bar. He kept staring at me the whole time and being rude. I will personally be writing a letter of complaint and by brother (who is new to the gym) and I were both very uncomfortable by their rude comments and staring. I explained to him that I was a powerlifter and asked him prior to deadlifting if I could. He said I could if I didn’t drop it from height and agreed that naturally it would make noise especially as I was repping 140kg paused. The lady on my last day helped me with a new exercise I was trying and was super lovely, trying to help me set up my equipment. I understand that the gym had strict rules but overall I had a really bad experience as it felt like I was being stared down all the time and watched whilst no one else was. Bring a swimming cap if you would like to go swimming too!! The spa was a surreal experience!!

    Great review, terrible gymnasium

    rating26 Dec 2024

I am staying at the axis hotel and cannot fault it. It is clean and feels welcoming. The gym however is not. The facilities themselves are good but the staff really let it all down. They are rude and the personal trainers seem to think they are gods. I am a power lifter and I am used to being around different gyms in different countries, but the gym experience was so bad that I have got to a different gym instead. Firstly I show up and realise that the bench racks are taken which was not a problem. I did a different exercise and when I was done I went back and saw that it was available as the man and his personal trainer had gone to the treadmill. As it was still racked, I asked the gym attendant if it was free in which he said yes, so I proceeded to unrack. I was then met with a personal trainer shouting at me because he was using the station. In which I looked at the gym attendant who stayed quiet. I said there was no one on it but he remained rude and defensive. I remained calm, re racked the bar and moved away. The gym attendant then came back up to me and said that I could then use it, in which I mentioned that it still had weights on, something every gym goer knows not to leave on a bar, especially something a personal trainer should know. This personal trainer was also teaching his client the wrong form and was not spotting him correctly which could have easily turned to injury. If you come to this hotel avoid the gym. You are better off paying and going elsewhere.
