Everything a small boutique hotel should be. Beautiful setting and accommodation options, great personal service

    rating16 Jul 2025

Wonderful personal welcome and stay- great accommodation (we booked a 2 bed villa- gorgeous modern design with own pool) , wonderful excursions arranged for us (we did horse riding, golf and canyoning), tasty food (including amazing breakfast!) all beautifully presented . Beautiful hotel within 7 mins of the wonderful village of Ponta da Lima. Highly recommend

    Stunning hotel

    rating26 Sept 2024

Had a gorgeous 3 night stay at this last stop on our tour of Northern Portugal. We stayed in one of the "tented" rooms which was amazing. Very roomy and highly specced. Breakfast was good and we ate in one evening enjoying a very tasty meal for reasonable price. The pool area including the beds are first rate and for most of the time we were there had this area to ourselves. Really can't find anything significant to fault, simply stunning place. You will most probably need a car to stay at this property to allow you to explore the fabulous surrounding towns.

PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU ARE THINKING OF STAYING HERE- THIS PLACE IS SCARY- YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

    rating24 Apr 2024

Have you ever pulled into a hotel and the second you get there- you feel like you should run away as fast as you can?Well- this is that kind of place. Book here at your own risk- I should have read the trip advisor reviews before booking and wasting money and time and aggravation 1- the reception was beyond un welcoming- we were not treated nice at check in and we appeared to be the only guests at the hotel 2-the hotel and grounds looked nothing like the photos advertised- 3- the room stunk and whatever industrial strength chemicals used to clean the room caused an immediate reaction to a skin breakout4- the dining room was in the same lobby as check in and in everything smelled bad- like a bad roadside inn from 1964 in the poconos with the same depressing musty oder all around we ran out of the place within 5 minutes of arrival as it was run down/ smelled bad// was noisy and next to a main roadway and the staff was beyond rude at check in - it was a scary place that was no way close to what was promised on the false advertising website we booked for 2 nights- asked for a refund on one night and were laughed at - they told us go ahead and post a bad social media review- we dont careand that summed it up- they don't care stay here at your own risk- you have been warned! Maria Fernandes, Diretor-Geral at Carmo's Boutique Hotel, responded to this review We believe that the best thing would be to forget what happened to our collaborator, however, given what this gentleman says, we are obliged to respond out of respect for women who are still victims of certain behaviors.1st. We have no doubt that this gentleman is familiar with the smell of the so-called "streetside" hotels… He attended them for some reason/need. When it is a gentleman that is in lead management of a Company….2nd. In fact, you were not at the hotel for 5 minutes, but 15 minutes. Your fear was great, you were quick to understand what the consequences of your harassing attitude towards the receptionist could be, when she took you to the Tent Suite which, out of respect for the person accompanying you who remained behind for a moment, did not slap you, which was what you deserved.3rd. We can understand why is it that you had a skin problem within 5 minutes... and you hadn't even been able to leave passing by the Hotel Reception, didn't hand over the room keys, without even allowing someone to accompanying you so that you have no other contact with the receptionist.4th. We regret that there are still men with this attitude, without any respect for a woman… let's hope it comes to an end.

    Terrible experience

    rating10 Jan 2024

I just wish I had read more reviews before booking this place, since everything the negative reviews describe is exactly right, especially in relation to the manager / owner’s attitude, poor value for money and general lack of quality in all the services provided. This is NOT a 5 star hotel. We encountered several problems including a faulty elevator, shower and AC, an ant invasion, extremely poor selection of foods for breakfast (on the second day the only cake served was the leftover of the previous day cake) - but the worst was the management lack of professionalism when politely confronted with these issues. She simply dismissed them and even lied when answering our google review saying the ant invasion was due to our child’s diapers (!) - not only we obviously didn’t have dirty diapers in our luggage, but also anyone with kids probably knows that ants are not attracted to dirty diapers! We were celebrating a special date which was ruined by this terrible experience. Maria Fernandes, Gerente geral at Carmo's Boutique Hotel, responded to this review Mrs. Maria Teixeira, We have already answered this review on another platform and on this platform in another user name. We were very surprised, after you have praised the services at the hotel, this complaint that arose after you were called to attention for leaving the child's diapers in the suitcase to infest the room, which caused an invasion inside the suitcase and throughout the room.We consider these types of comments to be pure evil.Fortunately for the Hotel Industry, this type of revanchist customer is a rare presence.

    Magical Gem in Minho

    rating26 Nov 2023

We stayed at this quirky and luxurious hotel for 3 days while in the Minho region. This boutique hotel is high end with eccentric decor and top notch service. The hotel is centrally located, and the perfect location to explore the area. We dined in one night. Meal was traditional Portuguese and absolutely delicious. They make the dinner especially for you, and it did not disappoint. Morning breakfast was yummy with lots of hot and cold choices.Exploring the grounds was fun, especially visiting some of the owner’s personal collections. During the warmer season, the pool looks relaxing. The bed in our room was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Made me not want to get out of it!!! Room was comfortable and had everything we needed. The staff at the hotel were so wonderful and offered to tend to whatever need we may have had. If you’re in the area, you want to stay here. It is a truly unique gem, and you’ll feel like a welcome and distinguished guest. I cannot recommend enough!
