    Not Up to Expected Standard

    rating30 Dec 2018

You may like to stay here if your idea of a hotel is a night at the museum but it doesn't meet the standards you expect at a four star hotel. There is a lot of dark wood and cabinets full of crockery that light up when you pass - it's spooky and gloomy. The display in the lower foyer is macabre. The rooms are large and clean but basic - there is no wi-fi, no telephone, no tv, no kettle, no fridge. Breakfast is disappointing - no croissant, no toast, no muesli, nothing cooked. There is no reception desk, we only saw one member of staff, she tried to be helpful but only spoke Portuguese and French. The hotel is in a good position with free parking in a public car park a couple of hundred metres away.Ponte da Barca is pleasant but not really geared up for tourists, there is no tourist information or walking equipment shop. There are restaurants but some are directed at locals. It is convenient to drive to the national park.

    Back in Time, Great Place

    rating07 Sept 2017

We stayed there for 2 nights (couple + 13 years old son). We had a huge family room, and modern bathroom. The house is a restored mansion from the 17th century, and is full of antiques. Room was very charming. The hosts are very friendly and treat you very well.Breakfast was very good, don't expect a huge variety like a big hotel, but everything is fresh and good. There's no reserved hotel parking, but we found parking on the street (for free) easily.Highly recommended place if you want something different than a standard hotel.

    Hospitality in mansion house

    rating11 Jul 2017

We stayed a night in this mansion house and was superbly taken care of by the hostess, making incredible breakfast from fruits from the garden. The house has many rooms and facilities where you can find privacy and feel at home.

    A step back in time

    rating24 Aug 2016

My husband and I absolutely loved Casa Do Correio Mor. Entering this beautifully restored house was like stepping back in time a few centuries. The exposed beams and great windows and stonework were all stunning and gave our time in Ponte de Barca such an authentic feel. The hostess and her daughter were absolutely lovely. So friendly and helpful. We were able to converse in French and English, and had several conversations about the history of the house. The swimming pool was well maintained and a nice reprieve from the intense heat. The sun room is also beautiful and the best place for wifi. The guesthouse location is fantastic, in the heart of the town. The bed was a little stiff for us, but it was a minor discomfort compared to the beauty and authenticity of the house. Would definitely go back. Enjoyed our stay immensely.
