in badly need of a deep renovation

    rating31 Dec 2024

old hotel in badly need of renovation. Very uncomfortable and old mattress. Room with basics only. Old dirty carpet. Clean and functional bathroom though and good heating system. No restaurant, just basic breakfast. No parking either. Personnel ok.

    Old but compliant correctly

The hotel is located in a quiet area, an eye that Google did not know how to get to it you must enter if you are driving through where the church is. It is quite old but for the value for money it is highly recommended, the beds are comfortable and both the hotel and the rooms are clean. Originally submitted in Spanish on www.tripadvisor.es. Avoid Where Possible

    rating18 Apr 2022

I stayed here one night following my football team in Braga. It was one of the last hotels in the area that was still available, but travel to nearby Braga was only possible by taxi. The hotel was very basic. - The toilet was in a poor state of repair. There was often no hot water, and the shower runs off the tap water so this made showering difficult. The bathroom sink was made of stainless steel, which was reminiscent of a prison cell. - There is no heating, the air con only cools the room. It was cold weather during my stay, which made for a very uncomfortable sleep.- Reception is manned 24 hours a day, which was useful for getting bottled water when I arrived back late at night. It was also useful for getting a taxi so I could escape back to civilisation when I left early in the morning to go home.Don’t stay here at all if you’re actually on holiday, and if you’re just stopping over… still don’t stay here if there is literally anything else available.

    Nope..

This room gave me allergies...literally..family that runs it hangs out watching TV downstairs. Bathroom curtains have mold stains. Breakfast doesn't impress. The carpet on the floor should be vacuumed and the curtains washed.. Has too much dust for people sensitive to allergies.. Staff is noisy.. Mattress is too worned out and has bumps. Meh. Wi-Fi has problems staying connected. TV was nice to get my head out of the problems of the hotel bed I was laying in. Could hear my neighbor cough and shower. I wouldn't repeat the experience unless those issues were solved.

Friendly staff, simple, expensive food and no choice!

    rating26 Mar 2015

Dated but clean hotel. Close to Guimaraes. Staff very friendly and attentive but on arrival we were checked in by a grumpy grandmother who turned out to be the owner. We stayed 3 nights having used "Odysseias" vouchers with (so called) "room free of charge" but with compulsory minimum spend for food & drink. Bearing this in mind, the food was (although tasty and well prepared) very simple and extremely poor value for money by Portuguese standards. Imagine: Simple roast chicken, salad and fries with soup and a small basic desert including unspecified wine and coffee for €19.50 per person. Elsewhere this would cost €10 at most. And... all 3 nights there was no choice of menu either. You had to eat what you got! As far as I could judge, the house wine was poured from a container into a used bottle (with a label!!), a definite no,no. The restaurant was kept closed but a table was prepared for us in a small side room where the owners and family (including a noisy toddler) also had their meals. Breakfast (this in the restaurant) was of the simple standard Portuguese variety but with good quality rolls and croissants. All in all an odd experience. If the room price is OK, by all means stay, but check on food choice and price first before ordering!
