  Nice location,not much to do in winter.hotel doesn’t offer much either

  Very comfortable hotel,excellent staff Ines extremely friendly and knowledgeable.Hotel itself lacks of heating on outside the rooms,no fireplace,and no kettle in the rooms for coffee or tea.Gym is small but comfortable,again freezing cold 🥶..But everything was ok 👍.Maybe a kettle and a spa area or a heater pool would help visitors to stay longer and perhaps a more remarkable stay.   We didn’t stay in the hotel but visited for dinnerThe location is fabulous with the hotel just set back from the water and offers an internal restaurant and tables outside next to the riverThe views are spectacular, the food not soThe menu is short, offering limited starter and main course options which we were hoping might be an indication that the chef likes to perfect a few dishes rather than cooking a wider range of the more mundane. Unfortunately all were fairly bland apart from the mixed starter. The cod was dry and stringy and although our party tried most dishes the general consensus was that the food was incredibly average The staff were also initially very slow to take our drinks order which is never a good sign So incredible location let down by beige food Diretor Geral, General Manager at Hotel Porto Antigo, responded to this review Dear guest,Thank you for sharing your feedback with us.   We had been looking forward to a truly special stay — the kind of holiday where the setting, the atmosphere, and the quiet create lasting memories. Unfortunately, the persistent noise — particularly from the ski-doo, the boat, and loud music — broke that sense of tranquility we had so anticipated.This was totally unacceptable from your hotel brand therefore we can't recommend it.   Hotel with amazing location but very old fasioned and bad taste in decoration and materials. In terms of food is neither nice nor tasty, some basical things are not even in the menu. We sorry but we can`t recommend the place.   This small hotel is the best for some do nothing days, to recharge your psychic batteries. Or, to enjoy water sports on the Douro River. Or, to explore the vineyards providing great port wines. Excellent breakfasts are served on the terrace overlooking the river and dazzling hillside scenery.
