    Absolutely perfect stay here, Luis and Christina are fantastic. I taught Christina a Welsh hug (Cwtch). she was amazing with breakfast, rooms spotless, port on arrival and for our anniversary.     We stayed at Dukes Corner Guest House for a few days, and it was absolutely delightful. My partner and I don’t usually go for big hotels — we always look for somewhere with character and charm, and this place was exactly that.The lady who checked us in didn’t speak much English, but she went above and beyond to communicate (with a little help from Google Translate!), and we appreciated her kindness and effort. Our room was perfect — the wooden shutters on the windows gave it such an idyllic, authentic feel.The staff were amazing throughout our stay, and the freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast was the icing on the cake! There was plenty to choose from — fresh meats, cheese, fruit, and pastries.It’s also in a great location, within walking distance of plenty of restaurants, bars, and lovely spots to just sit and people-watch.     Stayed here for 7 nights well worth it. Owner and staff were all very helpful. The location is just a short walk from all the attractions in Porto yet in a quiet residentual area. Would highly recommend.     Raving About Dukes Corner Guest House

    We were welcomed by Luis and Christina in the lovely Reception room at Dukes Corner Guest House with a speedy, but friendly check-in process. Immediately we were told all the details of self entry/exit for the key-less exterior door, breakfast hours, and that our heavy bags would be handled by the staff! We were shown to our second floor, large room #5 with two beautiful windows on the shady front tree- lined street and another window facing the quiet side street ensuring cool and quiet nights of relaxing sleep. Christina and Michelle assure daily that the guest rooms are supplied with all the essentials, including very nice bed linens and very large hand and bath towels. The whole guest house from the comfortable breakfast room to the stairwells is so clean and spotless as well as smelling of light fragrances friendly to the nose.We were staying for 30 nights, but were totally overwhelmed by Luis's gift of a fine red Portugese bottle of wine and glasses of Ports -a White and a Ruby! The service here is spectacular! Any question regarding the tourist areas nearby, as well as the best restaurants, or where to do the laundry are easily and nicely answered by Luis. Breakfasts are delicious with meats,cheeses,cereal,yogurt, tasty breads, tomatoes, cucumbers, and boiled eggs! Freshly squeezed orange juice as well as coffees and tea are freshly served. The highlight is pastela de nata of course! Best of all is the ideal location of Dukes Corner. Nearby in short walking distances are restaurants, bars, shopping, and many tourist interests! We have visited PORTO on 2 previous occasions, but never have we been happier with our real local setting.     The good...Reception shows how to operate electronic lock for access to building.Location 10 min. Walk to river.Older lady is nice, does it all, front desk, breakfast and cleans rooms...insisted on carrying bags upstairs (not sure what the older guy does).Breakfast OK and fresh orange juice. Price.No heat even after complaint to older guy (Porto was 11⁰C/52⁰F overnight 09/21/2025), very uncomfortable. Probably the reason for the musty smell.2 storeys is like 4, lots of stairs. Floors are uneven if you have mobility problems.First thing reception did was say we owed them more $ (prepaid through Expedia).Restaurant they directed us to wasn't openNo vanity space, just a sink, table underneath.Wifi intermittent TV intermittent Noisy for a supposedly quiet neighborhood…garbage truck at 11:30 at night!? We are 5 minutes away from the river, just check the map to confirm. The room on the right has a wardrobe on the right-hand side of the entrance. The TV cable was poorly plugged in, someone must have tampered with it, but we have already reconnected it and it is working normally. If you had told us, we would have solved the problem immediately. The heating needs to be turned on. If you had mentioned it, we would have solved the issue. Two blankets were requested and delivered. We did not detect any mouldy smell. The rubbish truck is beyond our control in terms of schedules, but it is better to have a clean street than a dirty one. We will try to correct this. We do our best to make our guests' stay a positive experience, as evidenced by the mostly very positive comments.
