Friendly helpful staff. Great location on the river. Rooms were very clean and serviced daily. Breakfast was included and it was a very broad variety of foods in the buffet. We would stay there again.

Four star hotel that could work better as a hostel

    rating31 May 2026

Iwrite this review to really caution future travelers. While it does make me wonder how the this particular hotel ever achieved four stars, let me first speak to the positive. The location the Douro river is nice. And, the hotel is somewhat away from the noisiest part of that location. The morning breakfast buffet is suitable. The real caution here is the property’s greatest oddity. A relatively small number of rooms have river views. If you do not carefully get one and are positive to pay for one- the views are incredibly laughable and really should not be rented. I attached a photo of the room we were given the first night- it looked directly on a retaining wall, three feet away,We took the elevator up to the roof top bar and noticed, other rooms looked out on the back rock wall, the roof top bar walk way, half of the roof top bar from the top of their windows, all just wonderful views, I am sure. When we moved to an oddly angled room, we had a window to the river if we satin one chair in a little nook. But, we never saw a chambermaid except the first night of our four night stay. When I told the front desk person his response was “oh.” No attempt at service recovery. The hotel has a bar on a second floor?-numbering of floors are quite odd here. It can be directly accessed from a stone ramp from the street. Doors are left open in the evening and people often watch soccer games. One night returning from dinner a couple was walking up the ramp and the woman ahead of us shrieked as a rat was following her to the doors. The rat must have been staying in our first room with no view.Seriously, there seems to be an abundance of nice hotels in Porto. We have travelled throughput Europe, this would rate as one of the worst. Eurostar has much work to do, but not sure this one could ever be saved, it might work as a youth hostel

    Wonderful Hotel

    rating24 May 2026

Had a wonderful stay at the Eurostars Porto Douro Hotel during our visit to Porto. The hotel is in a fantastic location with amazing views overlooking the Dom Luís Bridge and river. The rooms were very spacious, comfortable, and well equipped with tea and coffee making facilities. Everything was kept spotless, with the room cleaned to a high standard every day.We had breakfast at the hotel, which was of a very high quality, with a wide variety of options and plentiful throughout service. We also ate at the hotel on two occasions, and again the food was of excellent quality with great service each time. The bar is also well stocked with a good variety of drinks. When staying here, the rooftop bar is a must — offering fantastic views across Porto and the river, making it a perfect spot to relax in the evening. All of the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, but a special mention has to go to Diana on reception. She made check-in very straightforward and was incredibly knowledgeable about the local area, recommending great places for shopping and restaurants which really helped make the most of our trip. The hotel is also perfectly located within a short walk of the famous Port wine cellars — a must when visiting Porto — as well as numerous restaurants and bars.Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Porto and would happily stay here again.

Great hotel but the theft from the room spoiled our break

    rating30 Apr 2026

We stayed at the Eurostars Porto Douro from 26th to 29th April . It is a great location but our stay was completely spoiled by the theft of 150 euros from our room on the Tuesday . The hotel manager reported back that the two persons who had entered our room were long standing staff members and that I should have used the safe ! Having been summarily dismissed I would definitely not recommend this hotel until they can assure you that they have dealt with their security issue .

    NOT A 4 STAR HOTEL

    rating28 Apr 2026

Stayed for 5 nights. The only great things about this hotel is the view of the river and parking is available for a fee. It’s a short walk to main bridge where touristic area begins. It’s an old hotel, no restaurant (only breakfast) rooftop area with no service, had ants and a roach in our room. No coffee in the rooms, no ironing board or iron in room, has to be requested. One complimentary bottle of water for all 5 days. Better options available. Would not stay here again.
