    Disappointing despite great location and lovely pool area

    We had expected a lot more given the price and positive reviews. On the upside, the location in Gaia is great - relatively quiet but an easy to walk to the port wineries and the centre of Porto. In addition, the pool area was lovely after a long day sightseeing and the pool was heated. In addition, the decor of the whole hotel is really well done.Unfortunately, our room (a superior with balcony) was on the second floor above the car park entrance. The bed was comfy but it had no privacy as it was overlooked by offices opposite. The balcony was unusable, partly due to the aspect, but also due to a group of mosquitoes which seemed to like the dark space. In addition the room was not cleaned until 6pm which was very inconvenient.Although the pool area was lovely, it was ruined by the building work very close by, with lots of banging and shouting. Also breakfast service was very mixed, with several items being finished and not replenished. There was an egg station but it was rarely manned. Overall, we could see the hotel’s potential but it was a huge disappointment. I would recommend that anyone visiting avoids the lower floors facing the road. For guests who have specific plans or prefer to rest during the afternoon, we always recommend requesting cleaning upon leaving the hotel so we can prioritize the room accordingly. We understand that the timing was not ideal for your plans, and we regret any inconvenience this may have caused, though the schedule is communicated as stated. As for the mosquitoes, we understand how this affected your ability to enjoy the balcony and its views. Even so, warmer days combined with our proximity to the river can naturally increase their presence outdoors, even with regular maintenance and preventive measures in place. Regarding the construction noise, the works taking place nearby are entirely external to the hotel. Being located in a central and continuously developing area, new projects do arise from time to time. While we do our utmost to minimize their impact on our guests, there are limits to what can realistically be controlled. Finally, concerning your breakfast experience, we sincerely apologize.     Friendly staff. Comfortable bed and very clean. Convenient location on the Gaia side of the Duoro River. Close to the Gondola ( costs 7euro one way).
