    Beyond expectations

    rating01 Jun 2026

Having read some reviews, we were not expecting much but wow, were we proved wrong. We were greeted on arrival by the most welcome receptionist, the room was huge, very comfortable and had everything we needed for a short break . We experienced no issues whatsoever with noise , the bed was super comfy , aircon great. We absolutely loved Porto , yes the hotel is away from the centre , it is walkable, I did it on a hot afternoon, but turned to use uber as were very cheap. For the price we paid with easyJet, I was blown away! I had pre booked the restaurants I wanted to eat at, all were brilliant, did an amazing walking tour, Calem port lodge and fado show was incredible. The bar was a lovely place to have a glass of local wine before heading out for the evening, with lovely staff. All in all, highly recommend.

    Lovely rooms

    rating12 Apr 2026

The hotel isn’t in Porto it’s a few miles away.We had 2 studio apartments which were huge!!! Spotlessly clean!! Bathroom was amazing. But the walls were paper thin! I couldn’t sleep due to the noise from the apartments next door, kids screaming all the time from both sides of me . You could even hear people sneezing. The bar is amazing with a lovely atmosphere we enjoyed a drink on the way out of an evening then we’d have a drink before bed .But on our last night there was a man asleep at the bar , head back mouth wide open. His friend was sat with him at the back of me . I was with my 26 year old son enjoying our last day when this huge man jumped at me from behind putting both hands on my shoulders. We didn’t see it coming we were both scared he was clearly drunk and his friend was also aggressive. The bar man came around the bar to us didn’t say anything to the men asked if I was ok which I wasn’t! We sat at the other side near the security guard who also did absolutely nothing! We left then men stayed. I couldn’t sleep through fear they would come to my room , we left early in the morning as was afraid to see these men again. I wouldn’t recommend this place for anyone. I gave it 3 stars because the rooms are amazing just my experience on the last night was terrifying and I got no support at all .

    Not bad, not great

    rating06 Apr 2026

The apartments are in a Holiday Inn which isn’t specified anywhere on the website (save for the contact information when we couldn’t find the place). The building itself looks worn, tired and dirty. The reception is modern and clean. When we went to our rooms, they were very large and the beds were comfortable. However, they are also worn and tired. The windows were dirty and had a stain all across so you couldn’t see outside. It advertises as a self service studio apartment. There’s a hob and sink but no cutlery, plates, cups or even a kettle so I’m not sure how you’re supposed to cater for yourself. It’s about 40 minutes to walk to the bridge and restaurants. It’s not in an attractive area to enjoy the walk but it’s manageable (for us but not my older parents). Thankfully Ubers are really cheap. Overall the apartments served a purpose for a weekend but I wouldn’t return. The place needs some T&C. Staff were pleasant. Check out was great at 12pm.

    Mixed experience at Gaia Residence

    rating01 Apr 2026

We arrived and were not sure if this was the Gaia residence as there’s no signage for this - only Holiday Inn signage. As soon as we checked in we were treated like second class citizens, different lift around the back were paint is chipped off the walls. We had to pay to go in the pool (their website Nor easyJet website which we booked from did not give this info). Room is clean and comfortable, but it’s supposed to be an apartment/ hotel but the room is bare except beds / pull down sofa bed and TV. There’s kitchen facilities behind the cupboard but no kitchen utensils at all and no kettle to make a drink. We ask for a kettle and got a pan. Eventually got some plates and cups and on the fourth time asking got a kettle. There’s signage everywhere saying kids under 12 eat free (all over the lifts we use to get to our rooms) but when we tried to book for breakfast at the main reception the surly receptionists refused to let us use the offer charging us full price for our 12 year old son (because he’s tall - she had his passport in her hands to check his age) and half price for our 9 year old. When I asked why we couldn’t get the offer on breakfast she shrugged and said you’re not staying in Holiday Inn (even though I’m stood paying at the Holiday Inn reception and our room is in the same building and they were advertising the offer in our lift). Reception staff not friendly at all but the staff serving food were so lovely and accommodating.Location - on the top of hill in Gaia so easy 30 min walk down hill to the river and main Dom Luis bridge - but quite a walk up hill back.

    Quality stay

    rating19 May 2025

Wonderful hotel. Very clean with good amenities such as the gym. Breakfast was good too. There isn’t bar and a restaurant which I did not use. Only a 15 min walk from the closest tube station, there is a Lidi about a 8 min walk if you need some snacks for your room. Would use again if back in Porto for
