  A small gem in Porto

  We have just returned from a fabulous 3 night stay in the Guest House Douro and could not have been happier with our decision to stay there. A very unprepossessing exterior gives way to a small gem of a guest house/hotel in an excellent location close to the river front in Ribeira. Our room (402) was comfortable and clean with everything we needed and a gorgeous river view. Rooms in cities do tend to be small but it was not unreasonably so. Breakfast was delicious with an excellent variety of offerings. What really makes this such a delightful place to stay is each and every member of staff, who were all unfailingly helpful and obliging. Shout out particularly to Luiz who was brilliant. If you are going to Porto and like a small but perfectly formed place to stay you couldn't do better than the Guest House Douro.

  Rooms with the best river view in Porto

  We had one of the river view rooms with one of the prime views in Porto. Note that the river view rooms are small, but the views can't be beat. This is an intimate hotel (8 rooms) with exceptional, personal service. The accommodating staff went out of their way to make our stay memorable, with great recommendations for parking, restaurants and sightseeing. The generous breakfast was served to order with an emphasis on fresh fruits and baked goods.

  Great location for visiting Porto

  It was a great place to stay in Porto. It is right on the river and our room had a view of it and within easy access to the middle of the town by a 10-15 minute walk although there are a few hills. It is very quiet with just a few rooms and although our room was compact it was very comfortable, clean, and the view was perfect. No fridge or tea/coffee making facilities but bottles of water and drinks were available on request. The breakfast was incredible with so many fresh and healthy options, especially the fruit with an additional choice of eggs (fried, boiled or scrambled) and it was lovely to chat with other guests. In addition, one of the staff (Luis, Adrianna, and Louisa) were always available and ready to give great advice of what to see and do in the city including nearby restaurants. Worth a note that it is down a narrow pedestrian only cobbled street and can only be accessed on foot and may not be easy to access for those not so good on their feet. A Bolt taxi from/to the airport was readily available at a cost of cEur13. Happy to totally recommend.

  The experience in Porto was enriched by the friendly staff Louise, Louisa and Adriana. These three were so very friendly, helpful and truly made our stay very special.Breakfast was fabulous!

  Stayed three nights in this fantastic guest house and it exceeded all our expectations. The location is great, the rooms are clean and comfy and the breakfast is probably the best breakfast we have had in a hotel. What sets this place apart though is the staff, everyone is so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. We will definitely return here when visiting Porto.
