Central location, but noisy at night

    rating01 Nov 2025

The guest house is in a great, central location, close to restaurants and sights. Easy to access from the airport (Line E to Trinidade and transfer for 1 stop to Aliados), although the hotel is then another 7 min walk up a steep hill. The room is very basic, like a dorm, bare bones. Shower is small and leaked water. Would be great if they had a coffeemaker in the room or even cups. The alternative is to go the kitchen on the 2nd floor between 8-5 to request it. Breakfast is included, starting at 8 am and is a simple continental spread. The worst part of the stay is the loud noise all through the night that you can hear even from the higher floors, recommend going somewhere else if you’re a light sleeper or bring ear plugs. Otherwise, it’s ok for a few nights.

    Unbelievable behaviour! 😠

We have booked a room on July (we had already paid for it) and one month later, TWO NIGHTS before our arrival they cancelled it, with a really stupid excuse that they have INTERNET FAILURE! Specifically, their message was "We apologize for the disturbance caused, but we had an internet failure, so we dont have accommodation for you. Your booking has already been paid but we don't charge anything. WE APOLOGIZE AND UNDERSTAND" - Unbelievable behaviour! I didn't believe them 😠

    Amazing !!!

Amazing hotel. In the heart of the city centre. Next to the best bars, close to supermarkets, bus stops, metro, The staff is extremely helpful and kind. The ladies in the dining room are so lovely and smiley. The breakfast includes everything you wish for, coffee, tea, milk, juice, hot water, butter, marmelade, croissant, bread, ham, cheese, corn flakes, The room had all the facilities we need and it was very clean and spacious enough. There is noise from the bars downstairs but it didn't bother us because the windows are thick enough. The bathroom was spacious but the black curtain doesn't let the sunlight come in. So you have to turn on the lights. We are very excited with the hotel and the staff. Thank you for your help. I hope we will come back soon.

    Warning warning

Just come back from a 4 night stay here. Worst expirience i have had whilst travelling in europe. First the good points:-Great location for sitesStaff friendlyNow bad points:-Rooms small, beds uncomfortable matress hard as nails pillows have more air than filling!!!Bathrooms tiny unless your the size of a barbie doll or an action man your gonna struggle. I,ve seen bigger shower cubicles built of lego. Our first room which was number 18 the shower entrance was about 30 cms!!!.Cleanliness sadly not clean our room covered in long black hairs on the floor on the bed. The toilet even had a notice on it saying it had been steralised yet in the pan was a massive black hair ball.Hair dryer we used had actually started to melt!!!Noise. If you are at the back of the building you are hit with the vibration and buzzing from the air con units fastened to the walls and then the thud of bass from the bar/club below. The front of the building you get the noise from the clubs bars and revellers on the street. This goes on till dawn and then the street cleaners arrive. Never have i stayed somewhere where the music made the bed vibrate. Everyone in all languages was talking about the boom boom boom!!!! In the breakfast area in the morning.Bteakfast if you like bread then you've got it made because thats all you get. If your young and want the party scene and want to sleep during the day you got it made otherwise stay clear.

    NOISY

    rating19 Oct 2019

Arrived at hotel on tuesday evening for a 4 night stay. Reception seemed friendly enough and we got into the lift up to our room 18 on third floor. Once inside the room we noticed a strong bleach smell(we thought at least clean). The room was tiny with one bedside table and chair. The bathroom was miniscule with dirty walls, floor, sink, shower and a large hairball in the toilet?? When getting into bed we then noticed the hair all over the cushions and bed. We pulled back the throw on the bed and seen the very dirty fleece type blanket and quickly removed it. The air-conditioning units were on the outside wall next to the bed and were making a terrible noise till around 2am, so my husband went down to reception to be moved. He was informed 'no rooms available tonight come back in the morning'. We got up in the morning and went to get showered and discovered i couldn't fit in the shower, the gap for entry was around 25cm. My husband went down to reception explained about the noise and shower and hey presto a room is available but we already knew because we had checked their website the night before (4 rooms available) when they said they were fully booked??. Changed rooms no probs and then in for breakfast. Lovely service but honestly 3 different bread rolls and cornflakes and this didn't change for our 4 night stay. New room 5 on 2nd floor. More spacious shower is usable still not clean but passable. Around 12.30am the noise started and didn't stop until 6am yes guest house porto clerigus is on the party street of porto. Various night clubs and partying in the street along with the very loud music is horrendous. DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO PARTY.
